What size secondaries (750's don't seem to be enough)

Alright...my setup as of now

88tII w/ streetport
s5 turbo
true CAI (under fenderwell)
full 3" turbo back RB Exhaust
S-AFC
walbro 255 (rewired)
marren 750cc secondaires
Innovate lc-1/xd-1 wideband

that's all of the important mods for now I think....anyway. Just got the motor ported and the wideband installed. We've been having a world of problems, which I believe we've determined to be the tps...we can set it to 1ohm and do a couple runs and the car pulls good.....then then that's about it...We check the tps and it's now 2-3 ohms. It won't hold...so anyway, I'm working on getting another tps atm....My other issue is that my secondaries don't seem to be enough. The wastegate is ported...but the lowest boost I can hold is 12lbs. Well, at 12lbs I hit 13's on the wideband. (with the safc at +50% in the upper rpm range) That's not too safe...soooo....what size injectors do you think will suffice?

My future plans for the car will probably be a fmic, and probably a stage II or III BNR, and probably going with a standalone of some sort. I'd like to buy something that should cover me in the future as well. So, what injector setup do you think I should run?

maybe run those in the primary's and throw some 860's in the secondarys. . or run the 750's for both primary's and secondaries

I've heard it's more of a pain to tune the car and get a consistant idle if you put bigger primaries in. However, I don't know how true this is.

I'm not too familiar with tuning/tuning #'s etc. but *shouldn't* your setup work? For example, my old TII that I recently sold was just tuned by Steve Kan via S-AFC. It made 230+whp at 5200 RPM's at 14psi? (they had to let off due to boost-spiking) This is with all 550cc's... I dunno, just seems like your 750cc's shouldn't be maxed out with your mods.

I'm currently running very similar mods to you, except I've got the R-tek chip (no S-AFC) and N/A rotors... I run 13psi all the time with no problems.

Sounds like you didnt port the wg enough. also if you plan on keeping the safc you'll have a hard time starting your car. The SAFC cannot control injectors during cranking and you'll most likely flood out everytime.

is that true like 2 eat ricers... i know the man over at bnr swears by the rtek with an safc to tune and has been doing it for a while I didnt know that this would be a problem... the safc im pretty sure you wouldnt use to adjust the primaries cuz they will stay the same correct?

YOu are aware that this does not affect your FWO pulls. Once you are out of idle or cruise, the TPS is just along for the ride. Its not affecting your AFRs.. What are your throttle crossover points?

Its a mixed bag. I drove mine with 680 pri and 720 secs on an SAFCII, and it had a bad tendency of not hot starting, but once it was running idle was rock solid. Just had to use a fuel pump switch.

At this point I must say that I HATE SAFCS!! And I am sorry I ever spent my money on one, but I drove and tuned on one for about 2 years, so I suffered what many others are going too...

Check the fuel pressure!

Could be FPR problem, or fuel pump wiring/relay problem.

we just did the fuel pump rewire...but dunno what shape the fpr is in. So your'e saying the tps shouldn't be affecting anything other than the idle? I'm not sure right now what the crossover point is set at. Honestly, we don't have much experience with the afc...I know we have the base settings in as shown on 1300cc. Other than that...we're kinda learning. Somebody give me a simple break down of how to change the settings for lo/hi throttle, crossover point, etc. The manual reads like gibberish. I need it in idiot terms...ha.

As far as not using the afc...I didn't buy it...it came with the car. I really want to put a megasquirt in, but that'll have to wait till the funds are available.

Usually, on the S4s you have to use the low high crossover point at 98/99%. This makes the driveability manageable. I did use low 70s with some success, but most used the other setup.. Isnt there an SAFC forum for tips?

check you fuel filter... and check that you instaledl the filter correctly on the pump too again.

I also have similar mods but do 300hp on stock injectors which i will be upgrading to 850cc all round soon. My Afr are good though

ok...so even with a streetport ...you guys think 550 primaries and 750 secondaries should be enough @ 12lbs boost? We've been shooting for mid 11's for the afr's...does that sound about right?

1: SAFC is gay and when your TPS decides to be at 97% while you're at full throttle you'll blow your motor. It's happened to me.... I can't figure out a workaround to this issue, aside from running the car pig rich all the time. I couldn't stand the SAFC also because I'd frequently cross over intot he "high" part at cruise (80-85mph).

I started setting the TPS setting lower and lower and the TPS would be "set" but the SAFC wouldn't see it as full throttle. Swapped TPS's with no result. Sometimes it would stay for a day or two, other times I'd lose it within 3 throttle openings. I moved the % down as low as 50% but this made the car horrible on gas.

2: 720 pri/1600sec with your new standalone. Did you port your wastegate? The stock s5 wastegate is still **** compared to any real wg. It's just less shitty than the s4.

You have two separate problems: Fuel delivery & TPS setting

The TPS can be checked easily enough. Just clip on your meter & work the throttle.
You are holding off the fast idle cam - right?

You may want your THR input to the S-AFC connected directly to the pressure sensor.
That way you get into the high map anytime you’re in high boost, regardless of the throttle position.
Also, you may want to put the S-AFC through new initialize cycle, so it will re-learn the ranges.

I'm still suspicious of the fuel pressure.

can you explain a little more about the wiring you mention there, with the afc/pressure sensor. Mainly, what exactly would I be wiring, and why it would be beneficial? Thanks for all the input so far guys.

Bueller was off having fun - back now.

Here's a thread in the "Super AFC" forum. There are others there.
