I figured headers all the way back to the exhaust tips. I've been looking at my Victoria British LTD catalog and it looks like it'll be around $500 for a header all the way back, I would like to add dual exhaust ( well at least the look
). I dont want to sound like a 4 banger, but I have no idea how the rotary will sound with a open high flow exhaust. Is there anything else I should get? Its a n/a 86. All stock.

Your car is going to backfire extremely loud with any kind of unrestrictive exhaust. This will be followed by a flame or two. Make sure you get a good, thick exhaust system or else it will blow apart with somehting like FLowmaster. Also the poping sound can be as loud as a gunshot. Cool dude! Just dont gut your car and it should sound pretty good.

LOL, I dont want to backfire. As long as the car is tuned right I shouldnt have any problems with that? What exhaust system should I get thats a kit so I can bolt it on in the garage. Also should I get a cat on there so the 5/6th ports stay open or is that an issue.

I run a Racing Beat header, Racing Beat presilencer, and N1 single muffler. It is LOUD. Anythning above 4k RPM is crazy. I can't drive through a parking lot w/o setting off at least 1 alarm. IT RULES! On a side note, I am not familiar with Monza headers (the brand Victoria British) but I know that Racing beat is one of the best and most trusted suppliers of RX-7 parts ths side of Osaka. Now are you wanting to retain your catalytic converters? You will need some form of back pressure for the proper operation of your auxilluary ports, don't forget that either. Exhaust systems (well full set ups at least) need a lot of time invested in them, as it will really change the operation and performance of the engine. Good luck, and let us know what you decide!!

Well its going to be hard for me to decide, I know the aftermarket for the rotary is pretty decent, I just want to get rid of the stock exhaust, not be overwhelming loud ( I dont want to set off car alarms ).
Basically I just want to put it on to improve the rear looks of the car, I dont think I'll get much performance gains anyway ( 10hp tops is what I am assuming ). I am pretty much asking you guys if you had the money what would you get? I want to keep it ~$500 though

For $500 tops. Hmmm. Get this cat for higher flow, good emissions, and port operation:http://www.rx7.com/cgi-local/2catalog.cgi?cat=11&part=1
And go to a muffler shop and have a Dynomax Megaflow mufflwer set up installed. Or, wire the ports open, and have the shop do a complete custom setup, manifold to tip, w/o cats. Your choice. I would say for your needs, get the cat and a catback.

I agree. Next weekend, porting the manifolds and remove the sleves. You have a 5.0, you already have a torque mobile. Wait till you hear your exhaust at 8k RPM. Nothin sweeter.

You live in Garland? Cool. Only 2 hours from me!! Anyway, yeah, GREAT place. I have not personally had any work done there, but I know several people who have. Good shop, great customer service, and timely shipping. A real quality place.

I live out in mesquite sort of near town east mall or 635 and 30. Awesome! I dont like the shape of the mufflers they offer though, I just want a regular looking muffler with no fancy tip for the exhaust. Bah, I am sure I'll find what I want eventually

Yeah, tint, stock spoiler, seats, carpet, and getting the car running are going to be the first things. I have to finish my mustang as well so I can sell it and build a new one from the ground up. I hope to get the rx7 driveable so I can use it daily. Its got a rotary performance sticker under the hood!

First mod depends on what your looking for in a car.
Show or Go?
Show, maybe a set of nice rims and tires
Go, definetly exhaust, or if you can afford it, 20b swap!!
Good luck. SLater
