Talking what seats from what cars will fit rx7?

hello smart forum members.
i have a riddle for you.
i want to get seats from a junkyard from a different car that will either directly fit my 86 gxl or fit with slight modification. i have a s4 with complete exterior s5 conversion if that helps out at all but i dont think it does. im having trouble finding a car with similar bolt patterns does anyone have any ideas or experience in this field??? im looking for something with a seperate head piece so i can put in 4 point harnesses, but can do without.

thanks alot,
RYAN

***please dont leave posts saying i should buy racing seats***

you should buy Racing seats........... I had to, sorry. seriously tho I have no idea which cars are the same.......I would not get Junkyard seats but that is because the junkyards around here have older messed up cars....maybe you have a nice junkyard(oxymoron)....I have not heard of anyone doing/attempting this.....you can be the first....make a detailed list of which cars can/cannot be used according to your experiments...

yea rxecret7.com carries some nice racing seats, the best idea would probably be get some nice racing seats with a 4pt harness

I'm putting some seats out of a DSM (1994 Eagle Talon) into mine. I'll have to fab some adapters to the brackets, but that's pretty simple stuff. Any seat that's close in width should work fine, if you can make the brackets for it...

Racing seats are the only option? Ookkeeyy. Rianshima, get a nice set of seats from a Celica...fits perfect and very comfy.

You don't have to buy racing seats! Recaro and Corbeau both make really nice "standard" seats that are quite comfortable.

As for junkyard seats...a buddy of mine has a stock Prelude seat for the drivers side...but the passenger side mounting is wacko...so you'll have to use the "stock" seat.

I know the second gen seats fit in the first gen so I assume they would also work visa versa. First gen seats from the GSL-SE are leather w/ a seperate head rest. Not sure if the four point harness will work with those. Just an FYI.

Also third gen seats may work. I don't know if the bolt pattern matches but the four point harnesses work with those seats.

Oh, Yeah, Have you ever thought of getting a racing seat..... :-)

You're asking for trouble installing racing harnesses with stock seats, period.
Good luck when you're in the hospital.

If you can't afford it, don't go racing.

when we say racing we are saying a Bride bucket seat, or a Sparco bucket seat, even APC with their 150 dollar seats, it can be a reclineable seat, but its not one sold from a factory, and they are made to be used with a 4-pt harness, unlike OEM seats

While its unlikely anything will just bolt in without some kind of adapter, the Recaro made seats out of the later model Preludes(type SH at least) are pretty nice and comfy. Ive seen several sets on ebay for reasonable prices.

unless u plan on putting in rollbars, 5 point harnesses r a very bad idea!! For example say ur speeding down a curvey road, ok. Then an animal runs out in front of u, u go flying off the road eventually flipping somehow. Guess where ur head/body is still strap down in the driver seat with no movement anywere, when that roof come crashing down on u, u'll wish u still had the OEM seatbelts in!! moral of the story UR DEAD, crushed cos u couldnt move down while the roof came crashing down!! sorry dude but ive seen it before!!

Some stock seats do have separate headrests anyway.

Someone that would rather die from becoming airborne once hitting something and spilling blood everywhere, than to try and save himself, the car, and the animal...

I guess some people just should not be given drivers licenses until they have had the most basic of training in a car.

actually icemark isnt the correct action to not swerve. i mean i dont totally agree with it and respect ur opinion but i thought the proper procedure was to brake without swerving. at least majorly...
