what is this in rear speaker tower?

I wanted to see if I could fit some like 8 inch subs in my rear speaker towers, but when I pulled it out it looked like it had some .... amp or something built into it already. Is this normal? There were 2 different connectors on the bottom, one 2 pin, 1 3 pin, but only a 3 pin connector (that wasn't plugged in) in the tower. Someone already put in a CD player in here ... so im guessing they had to disable this rear amp ... if it is amp... Looked like it had a air vent on the side. *Confused*

Whats going on here?

I thought it was my LSD controller unit (aka LSDCU). Someone said it was around the towers.

haha.
I thought it was an amp or crossover, just .. was like ... wow ... y .. would they do that? haha

so .... where is the 2 pin plug? Im gussing the 2 plug is power and the 3 plug is signal + remote amp?

What are the specs on the amp? Looks like mine isnt even using the amp.

The 2 pin is speaker signal (+/-) and the 3 pin is power (+/-/remote).

i myself am going with the Kicker RMB8 or SSMB8 (both 8"), they seem shallow enough...although i honestly want to make custom enclosures with lots of polyfill....and keep stock apearence.
