Don't use the oil pan gasket it's prone to leaking. Just pick up some high temp RTV sealant and put it on thick then bolt up the oil pan. DO NOT TOUCH THE BEAD OF RTV THAT GETS SMOOSHED OUT OF THE OIL PAN. Let it cure for a few hours then rock your socks off.

About $20-$29 is about right for the gasket.

I ALWAYS use a gasket with a thin coat of RTV/silicone n each side and it has NEVER leaked. Every time I have seen someone use only RTV/silicone, it has ALWAYS leaked.

I agree w/ idsigloo about the RTV sealant. That stuff is great. However I would reccomend using a cork gasket too. Just make sure you apply the RTV liberally and allow it to cure.

when you allow it to cure does that mean dont drive it? sorry its just a question that has been bothering me cause the heat of the engine would bring it back to a liquid again right?

Curing generally means leaving it for 24 hours before filling it with oil or driving it. The heat will not "reverse" the drying process, but may break the seal between the sealant and sealing surfaces. Basically, follow the directions on the tube.

So aaron there is no disadvantageous to rtv and gasket at the same time, so having a gasket that potentially leaks by itself and having, rtv that leaks by itself, and putting it together makes in a non leaking product? haha......It sounds good and I want to do it that way...

As I said, I've always used the sealer with the gasket. It also makes gasket removal much easier in the future. I put silicone on all my gaskets for this reason.
