What are my chances of getting a good motor?

I know of a junyard by me that has 5-6 NA FCs just sitting there rotting away. I was considering pulling the motors to find a good enough core to put into an FB. What are the chances that I get a good enough motor? Its pretty much impossible to tell by just looking on the outside isnt it?

Here's the problem... If its been sitting in a junkyard for more than a few months.. more than likely its apex seals are stuck and it won't have compression....

They may be allright to rebuild, but you chances of getting a junkyard rotter motor to run without a rebuild are slim to none

well ive been junk yard surfing plenty of times, and heres a general good way to tell the condition of the motor, since alot of places wont let u compression test!

look at the body of the car!!!!!
if the body is straight, interor is decent, the motor must of blown!!! and thats why the car is in the junkyard.

if it looks like they got in a major wreck, or spun out and tboned a teli pole, the car was totaled from insurance, and motor is prolly good!!!

If you're talking about that D&M place, those 7's have been there for years. Plus I don't know if they'd let you pull the motor yourself or charge you to have them do it. They generally don't care about random parts, but suspension and major parts they were somewhat picky about (at least when I was there).

Haha, and if you're looking for an FB from there, there's one near all the FC's. You just have to look through all the overgrowth and whatnot to find it.

I dont know the name of the place, but if it is outside Bburg/Cburg, then yes. They had a wrecked LT1 Firebird and told my friend they would pull it and sell it to my friend will accessories for $900. So, more than likely they would pull it.
