What is the most likely suspect for water in the spare tire well?

My drain lines are a-ok, and I don't see any holes or anything. Any ideas?

Are you sure there isn't a hole in the drain hoses? How about the seals for the tail lights, how are they? .... thats really the only thing I can think of for water in there

there are Two hoses that let the excess water from around the hatch Drain off.they are located in each Corner of the Crease of the Body where the hatch Sits.if they are Clogged they will let water into the Rear and fill up in the Well.Remove the Corner carpeting, around the inside walls of the Rear.Around the spare tire well, and where the Jack.etc sits..you should be able to see the Hoses..you can Clean the Hoses out with a nice long piece of Wire...sometimes too,the Hose will fall off if it is Jarred by Puttin Junk into the Spare tire well(done that!)..anyhow,Good Luck!

check the wing, yes the spoiler!! (if you have one). when i took mine off, i saw rust spots under the holes, that are there for the spoiler to be attached. Water somehow was getting in there and drippin into the spare tire well.

Another common area to check is the seam of the drain holes. They will sometimes corrode, and if the hoses do not flow well, the water will pool there, and leak down through the seams. Proper fix is to grind down to bare metal and re-weld, and then seal with seam sealer, an repaint, touch-up 1.0mm gun likely the eaisest. Cheap fast method is to smooth the seam over with RTV.

I just swapped on S5 tails yesterday, the gaskets on the lights are good to go. I'll add some weatherseal on them anyway, just to make sure. The drain lines seem to be ok, but I'll replace them anyway, since they are 20 years old. I didn't see any rust holes.

I pulled the plug from the bottom of the well and drained it. Next: I'm going to wet down the car with the hose and just see if I can find the leak. Here goes nothin'.

my car had about 2 feet of standing water in the wheel well and the back cargo compartments. i'm pretty sure someone drove the car through a river, so you might want to watch where you are driving heh. cost me $2000, a vacuum, and a new radio heh.

are your drain lines actually in the drain hole? I made that mistake once and that made the tire well and the driverside quarter panel to fill with water.

leaky hatch or drain holes clogged and over flowing. Which would also mean that your rear hatch seal is probably bad too.
