Well, its one less part they have put on the car, so it could theoretically save them money, or something.

one more thing to go wrong is my guess...

seems like a waste of energy too, to start off with a high impedance signal and then run it thru a resistor... then again i know little about electronics

The following stolen from RP Performance in Manassas Va..

Fuel Injection 86-87 13B NonTurbo Injectors to Chassis #550168 (LOW)

87-88 13B NonTurbo Injectors from Chassis #550169 (HIGH)

87 13B Turbo Injectors to Chassis #550168 (LOW)

The above came from RP Performance's site several years ago.

87-88 13B Turbo Injectors from Chassis #550169 (HIGH)

JM1FC3321H0501054

JM1 means it's a USA or Canada car.

FC means its a RX series

33 means its a coupe

2 means its a 13B Turbo

1 is a check digit used by cops to see if you stole the car etc

H is the model year 1987 (G is 86, J is 88)

0 is the city of manufacture. Hiroshima (Hmmm I thought if an atomic bomb dropped on a city you couldn't live there for several hundred years. Hmmm.

501054 is the production serial number

JM1FC3321H0501054 is the whole number called the VIN number.

Your Turbo car should have the solenoid resistor package located a half foot below the afm/airfilter assy.

I agree, the easiest way to tell is to either ohm out the injector or look for the solenoid resistor package.

The meaning of the VIN number came out of the parts fische which is available online and for free from someones site.

Answer: Low resistance injectors.

Look for the solenoid resistor package under the airfilter afm area. It has a aluminium shield over it and has a large oval plug.

Actually I'm confused. Mazdatrix uses the 7601 number and the RP Performance uses the 550169 number. Only the solenoid resistor package makes sense to me.

every FC I've taken apart has the "resistor pack" thing - including both S5's.

wtf?

That's only because you don't know what a Solneoid Resistor Package is. Probably because you only have looked at series five.

What you think is the Solenoid Resistor is actually the Fuel Pump Resistor Relay and is not located below the afm/air filter assy. That is located in Front of the afm/air filter assy.

All series five are high resistance injectors, anyway.

The Solenoid Resistor Package is bolted to the right fender with two bolts of 10mm head size. Has a aluminium cover on it with two 2X6ohm resistor blocks in it.

Looks like this: http://www.teamfc3s.org/forum/showth...threadid=33353
