What is the lightest FC?
Please post curb weight.
I might consider one for a project for autox next year.
And I miss the trunk space in the FC (I used to have a 86 SE) for grocery runs.
What the most desirable color if I want to ensure a higher probability of resale?
Also, let me know what kinda prices I should expect.

So you can get any model down in weight, as for stock

86-87 base model. 4 lug, no sunroof, no power options, manual steering, (AC?)
I think they were around 2600-2625lbs but I could be wrong.
Prices in the bay area? $500 to usually no more than $2000.

GTUs is the lightest, I think. Its kerb was something like 2625, something in that area. That's also where the 86-87 base models started. So find a base model, swap out the hood, and you've got a light car.

****** felt lighter than my 86SE with alluminum hood.
But the Honda/Acuras just feel more flimsy (chassis-wise) than a Mazda for some reason.

'87 sport is the car you want, the lightest WITH the better brakes/suspension, and an aero package that's actually functional. Once you bother converting a base to have the 4pot brakes/etc, it's back up to the weight of a sport.

Just get one with manual everything and no sunroof. If it has ac and ps, take it out, if not then thats good.
Then proceed to ripping out anything and everything you can or are willing too.
I've taken out 200 lbs worth of stuff and I still have my interior AND a steal hood. If I got an aluminum or cf hood that's another 30 lbs off. I could still get a lightweight battery too, lighter wheels, etc. There's a lot more that could be done while still looking like nothing has been (except under the hood )

My '86 base w/ light weight package was 2400lbs on the dump scale.
I had removed 3 cats, the AC, a few brackets and went to cheap race seats. That is about it.
There was a lot more weight that could have been dropped from the stock catback, battery, interior, etc...
