What HID kit to buy?

No, becuase it's not just the buyer that's getting shitty lights it's every single person that he ever passes in the opposite direction, everyone that he is ever behind, and the potential for an accident that his crappy lights are causing. It's not just the end user suffering, it's just about anyone. Ever have some little ricer behind you with blinding blue lights? Ever want to slam on your brakes just to knock the lights out?

I've seen my friend go the chinese route and I bought the Hella Bixenon units ($$$) and fitted those to my stock brackets. Night and day difference in visibility. Unfortunatly, no pics. One has since been totaled in an accident and I'm saving up to get another one.
These aren't something you should cheap out on. It's a huge safety concern not just for you but the other people on the road too.

TTT, I was hoping you'd answer about the black dragon euro housings because I'm kinda torn on which housings to get. Black dragon sells the hella vision plus and DOT approved euro housings. I know that hellas are great, but i like the euro look without the difusions(sp?). They are pretty close in price so i figured they are pretty decent quality. BTW, I'm not going to use them for HID, I'm just getting them to get rid of the sealed beams and this thread has some good info. thanks

That's what i figured, but I wonder why they say they are DOT legal then? Maybe just to make the sale?

Or maybe they just don't know what they are talking about. I would give RallyLights a call as they can supply you with everything that you need from the housings, to the bulbs to new connectors (becuase you should rewire the lights to get the most from the newer hotter, more amp consuming bulbs) to complete harnesses. They're a great bunch of guys. I've dealt with them alot.

I saw thishttp://www.vvme.com/catalog/list-s-10145-10146.html Does $50 sound about right for an HID conversion kit?
although on some of the bi xenon hids ive seen the high beam just changed the angle by a tad.
a couple of my friends with audis have those lights in 8000k and they look good
my other friend just ordered from them in 6000k. ill get pics of his once they come in

As the opener of this thread I'll second the advice to speak to Susquehana Motorsports @ http://www.rallylights.com/
Those guys are great and greatly informative. I have decided to drop the HID kit and go with some regular bulbs. HID's done the proper way are very expensive and are not necessary for my daily driver. If you do alot of backroad, mountain, canyon driving I would say it's worth the investment.
The guys at http://www.rallylights.com/ gave me all of the info concerning HID's. Including the fact that they are Illegal to fit in a halogen lamp in all 50 states and that they are now being more strict on enforcing this law. With penalties coming at up to $6,000 per bulb! The HID bulbs are approximately 150% shorter than stock and therefore do not focus the light properly. The light is wasted and ends up painting the ground in front of your car and blinding oncoming drivers.
Thanks for all of the input on this thread. I know its a touchy subject (do to the safety to yourself and other drivers) but lets not start biting each others heads off.
Peace,
Rob
