What a find at the junkyard!

What a find at the junkyard!
Took a trip to my local U-pull it junkyard today, just checking around. On the way out, my friend spotted a FC , we we went to check it out, and came upon not 1, but 2 FCs! One was a S4 N/A, and one was a '90 GTU, both absolutely complete! Upon further looking at the 'GTU (black interior, white exterior, absolutely mint inside..paint pretty bad though) I noticed the instrtument cluster... 40k miles! I about **** myself. Then some guy walked over to me as a was scavenging parts (took about everything I could... Including the complete longblock engine ) He asked if I owned one of these cars, or knew anything about them. I talked to him for a few minutes, and he explained to me that he was the one who just brought these 3 (there was another s4 GXL beside it that I didnt notice before) rx-7s in. He said he was doing contracting work for some guy, and ended up not being able to pay, so somehow he took all of this guys cars. Said he had 5 of them, and he was going to bring the other 2 into the J-yard later, but If I was interested in them, hed give me a call. So I said hell yea...turns out the other 2 he didnt bring were S5s as well, he said the one has low miles like the white GTU I was pulling parts from, and ran really well. He said the only reason hes bringing them to the junkyard is because he doesnt have titles for them, and he doesnt have time to sell them privately. So I just scored a bunch of S5 parts off this one, including a good running 40k mile S5 N/A longblock, and possibly 2 more nice S5s!

Must...scrub...parts...
Not so far from me. PM me if either of the other 2 turn out to be turbo, I might be interested in some parts, or possibly an engine. Still..... the guy you're getting it from seems a little shady. 5 cars without titles for any of them, and one running?

Just like last summer at the same junkyard, I walked in to find a very nice '69 Mustang coupe. But once again...they wouldnt sell the car whole.

yup here in KANSAS we have like three main junkyards and only one of them is pick and pull. SUCKS TO BE ME! At least we don't have emission laws here. VROOM!!
oh and about the guy with the cars, he should have the titles even if he is a repo-man, so i'd be careful about them 7's.

Wow! That is certainly one crazy *** story. Congrats on the find.
If a find like that was made in my neck of the woods, all 5 of those cars would have been *** raped in only a matter of minutes!!! And, no, I don't mean by me I mean by all the rotary lovin' dudes down in central florida...

No, that's a lousy find. It is very possible that the police will reposess all the parts and then he is out the money he paid. Even worse, he could be charged with receiving stolen property or even stealing the cars. Not good.

There is no way the that if these cars would've turned out to be stolen that the parts could come back on us. They don't take any personal information when you buy parts from this yard, and is cash only. ****, me and rxmfn7 have been going in there for years, and yeah, there's a sign in shee where you put your name, it's just a waiver for getting hurt in the yard (when people like rxmfn7 cut their thumb half off) but they have no idea of knowing who purchased what.

Some questions for you then...
1) If there is no record of sale, how can you prove that you didn't steal anything?
2) Did you know that your IP address is logged in each post, and that law enforcement agents read the posts on this forum on a regular basis?
3) I agree that there is a very good chance that you will get away with your parts if they were in fact stolen. However, how would you like it if it were your RX-7 that were stolen, and other RX-7 owners took parts from your stolen car because they thought they could get away with it? Does that make it right?
4) If you are so sure that the cars are not stolen, then why are you afraid to ask the police to check out this fishy situation?
A legit transfer of property includes the title of the cars, or at least it includes provisions for new titles to be issued. There is no way a good businessman would sell a bunch of cars to the junkyard for $50 when he could easily sell them for several thousand dollars each. I think he needs to buy "The Apprentice" when it comes out on video, lol. This guy is either a crook, a really bad businessman, or both.

I'm a CF and poop smith
if there are that many cars which run and no titles...
i agree with Evil Aviator, espeically on point 3 (sadly, only guys in to rotaries would steal them you would never find a civic guy stealing a fb/fc/fd, i mean why would they, there is nothing to swap over, even our turbos would be too hard to mod to fit their application.)
just don't get busted by the cops for cars which are worth this little, its not worth the jail time. if your gonna steal/buy cars, steal top end cars so at least you can tell the other inmates that you got caught doing something relativly impressive. Oh yeah, step up and stab/kill a guy on the first day in or become someone's bitch real quick (at least you'll only get screwed by one guy instead of like 20 guys; it lessens the odds that you will get aids or some other bad STD) or your not gonna survive!
good luck man
P.S. if it is legit, good find!

Hehe, damn guys, your acting like I know the cars are stolen and dont care Like I said, I will look into it further before I make any more purchases. I was just saying, that even though the situation seems a bit shady (which even my friend and I talked about at the junkyard), given the situtation, and questions Ive already asked, I dont think the cars are stolen. I appreciate your concern though

FWIW, no cars in this u-pull it yard have titles. That's why they are just for parts. They don't even have an inventory of what they have. The cars they do get in with titles, are sold whole in another part of the lot.
Here's an arial shot: Like I said, the U-pull it cars have no titles, and as far as I know, the majority of the full serve cars don't either, but at least there, they have some kind of inventory of what they have...
