AWD vs F/R
I have a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 and I know first hand how a AWD car can take to racing a car with less power and weight from dead stop and from a roll.
Off the line I was able to kill my brother driving his 1993 RX-7 R1 his was slightly tuned I think to around 300, my VR-4 being tuned to about 360.
Now from a 3rd gear roll....lets just say all I saw was tailights.
So seeing as how the wight difference is noticable between you and the STi which by the way the STi is 50/50 with power split ( my VR-4 is 40/60 so drives a little more like F/R) you should be able to take him from a roll at least if you can con him into the starting speed being in you power range. Keep in mind the STi isn't as rev happy as you, also if he isn't the best driver in the world he may not try to brake boost and if you know how to I would suggest it if you already are not doing so.
and to anyone who might think this comparision between my VR-4 and an STi as for weight my VR-4 weighs the same if not less than a stock Evo.
goodluck and don't race him from a stop.
