What the hell are you trippin about Mr.Gadget? All I wanted was to know if there was a way to get some cash back from the seller to stave off the repair costs Im going through... It just happened that I heard about a Lemon Law and all I did was ask about it... Others asked about how the car got to be in bad shape and I explained that it was apparently on the verge of getting there when I bought it... So whatever whinning youre thinking Im doing you need to either re read this post again or stop saying so...

Otherly its not $5k just to have the engine rebuilt... Im using RicksRotary(.com) and he told me flat out he wasnt going to make the repairs cheap... He basically said he was going to find the problems and he was going to fix them.... Heres the list of what he did find and has repaired

5x Water Hoses $91
2x Motor Mounts $80
Turbo/Intercooler gapper $37
Pulsation Dampener $150
5x Fuel Injector Cleaning and Inspection (through Mazda) $180
Apex Seal R/Rotor - $450 w/3mm overall replacement seals
Cracked Knock Sensor Replacement $150(used)
Rear Rotar Rebuild $3600

Hes giving me a 1 year/unlimited mile warranty... It just so happened that when he found the resister install with the stock injectors that it got to my head that all the tampering with the car is pretty much what accelerated the cars problems... So why not see if theres some way to get some money back?

5x fuel injector cleaning??? there are only 4 injectors... and normally cost is only $25 each to have them cleaned once they are removed (which they would be if you are having the motor rebuilt).

The knock sensor can't fail unless someone broke the wires off it. Its a Piezo sensor, and impossible to bust itself.

The fact alone that you drove the car fine for a month first suggests that you blew it up. You can think otherwise, but you would notice a bad apex seal right from the start.

furthermore on the 87 and 88, the knock sensor is on the front rotor- the one that you said was fine...

and you say you want to return the car back to stock condition, yet you are useing 3mm seals (for what ever reason- maybe you are planning on boosting 15 lbs--- certinly not stock levels)...either way the standard and stock 2mm apex seals lasted over 170K miles on the car, which is great for a 13BT.

And your resister on the injectors or what ever crap you were saying doesn't make sense. Even if you had a resistor pack from a 87 on your 88, it wouldn't effect the driveability. It would simply make the ECU under less of a load when firing an (or all) of the injectors on a 88. Perhaps you didn't understand the mechanic correctly on what the problem really is/was or are being taken for a ride by the mechanic, who may think you don't have a clue about a rotary engine and how it works (or he himself doesn't really know the differences between 87 and 88).

and Lemon law in California is only for New cars, not used.

You should have checked the car out before buying it, and have posted this thread orginally in the lounge.

You can buy a factory reman block for 1900 from Malloy Mazda in northern VA..shipping would be ~150-300 dollars.

That guy is ripping you off.

That is what I thought too...

I guess he figures he was ripped off for the car, and now he should be ripped off for the rebuild/repair.

I wonder if he will post a thread about being ripped off by his mechanic next???
