what is a better choise???

ok, my friend is going to buy a rx7 and i told him to buy a TII but he says that he don't want to cause hes going to break it and he wants an n/a lol. well my question is, is it better to buy a 6 port or should he get a gsl-se. i really don't know much about n/a cause my rx7 is a TURBO II and is the only 7 i had ever had. this is the first seven hes going to own and he doesn't know anything about them and when i say anything is nothing, i think he doesn't know whats even a rotor lol. but he has a daily driver so theres no problem in that.

thanks

Tell him to research before he buys it. Howstuffworks.com is a good start. He doesn't want to buy something he doesn't understand.

comes down to personal prefrence, GSL-SE would be cheaper in theory if you can find one, S4 and S5 parts are easy to come by and the cars are really cheap now.

All factory N/A's are 6 ports - Turbo's have 4 ports. GSL-SE's was an option for the last years of the first gen's (84-85) and came with a 13b w/ EFI.

What he want's is a s5 (89-91) N/A which came with higher compression, lighter rotors, the vdi system and is good for an extra 20+hp and 1k rpm higher redline over the s4. Plus the engine block has some changes which addresses some structure problems discovered with the s4 model. There's other benefits too but you get the point.

Specifically he want's an s5 N/A GXL which will get him the 5 lug rim setup and factory ground effects + spoiler. ~rich

Naw, you're thinking of the 12a engine - they were the carbureted rotaries that were made until 1985. ~rich

well today me and my friend saw an 87 rx7 n/a the car is in pretty good shape, new paint job, 18 inch wheels, new clutch, clean interior, very well taken care of the guy is asking 2600 but hes giving a turbo kit with the car, hes giving a garret to4 turbo, intercooler, turbonetics wastegate. i took the car for a sping cause my friend don't know how to drive maual lol. the car run pretty strong, the only thing that keep bugging me is that when you run, the transmission( my guess, i don't really know if it was the transmission) does a sound pretty strange but i shift it trough fifth gear and the shifts have no problem. aside from that the car looks great and it would be a good proyect fun car.
