fastest i ran was a 16.0 in the quarter. anyone have any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? I was leaving the line at about 3500rpms. I was running about 10lbs of boost too.

thats one reason right there. you should be doing 2.0s if not 1.9 with your mods if you got some decent tires. i run 2.0s all day long with a n/a with a couple of bolt ons and 215 45 17s

i bet you're getting loads of wheelspin...try just leaving the line off idle like a quick start from a red light...I bet you run mid 14's like that. then try to hone a nice technique free of wheelspin...you should be able to hit the 13.90 mark with your mods. play with tire pressure if you need to, make sure you're boosting 10lbs solid and its not trailing off (i.e. yuor car runs right)

Ouch, I just ran a 15.89 with a lightly modded S4 Convertible. I would serioulsy hope a TII with those mods would hand me my *** in a race. I you could even tempt into one. TII pulls up next to me, I put in reverse.

It takes more than a fast car to be really fast at the track.

our head mechanic ran 16.5's all day in my 7 YEARS ago on the first round of mods (racepipe, 2.5 inch single exhaust, intake, no airpump, slightly leaned AFM). I jumped in for the first time ever drag racing a car and went 15.7 - after about 5 runs I was running 15.3's consistently. Though my clutch wasn't happy I was busting through the traps at redline in 3rd gear...the driver is just as important as car!! w/ our turbo'd 2.5RS we would either blow the launch and run 14's or the car would just hook w/ the right clutchwork and we went 12.6

Why do you have a walbro without some way to adjust the mixture? At least get an S-Afc . . . I would guess you are running rich. I know that you need more fuel with exhaust mods on a Turbo . . . but with that fuel comes the need for fuel management IMO.

What do u mean by trap times? u mean my 1/4 mile times? I also don't think my boost gauge is accurate. I cranked my mbc up and my gauge shows me running 14psi now,and my engine isn't pinging. mind you im just running 87 octane gas.and the car runs a whole lot stronger now. i am thinking about getting a stand alone defi boost gauge to replace my autometer one, anyone have any opinions on this gauge?

Yeah, you should have gotten low 14s with your setup. Did you redline 2nd and 3rd? How was your launch,? did you sit there and spin any? I would start checking your spark plugs to make sure they are clean and then check out what's up.
my car has 190,000 miles on the orginal engine and turbo etc and i have what's listed in my sig and got 14 flat....I'm not trying to be mean or anything just wanted to show you have about as many mods as me so you should be be in the 14s or even high 13s. How's your clutch holding up? Does it slip?
I'm sure once you find what's going on with your car you will hit mid 14s at least
87 octain gas!!!??? you must run high octain gas 93 or higher.

no where in my owners manual does it say not to run 87 octane. I mean I know that the higher the octane the more resistant to detonation it is, but that's only if I crank the boost pressure up. my trap speeds then were only 87 and 89mph.

It just almost felt like I didn't have enough boost, but my gauge was reading 10lbs,that's why I"m doubting the accuracy of my gauge. I did not red line it when I shifed from 2nd to 3rd, i was shifting around 6k. My clutch and pressure plate are brand new mazda componets. I am just having a hard time trying to get the car to launch right.

87 octain is bad for the engine....sure it runs now, but later it might not I would put 93 octain, 2 stoke oil with TCW3 (1 once per gallon) and octain booster and check your timming and have at it.
