1bar is pretty much the max limit on the turbo not only for power (and barely any) but also for the CHRA. After that as dale would say "you're whipping around that donkey" pretty fast.
ok well I know dale says something like that

When I see 15 people jump on the stupid bandwagon and tell someone something that is not only wrong, but pretty much a physical impossibility, they deserve it. If you dont know the answer, dont answer. Dont take guesses that have no real basis.
I didnt say what caused his problem, he just asked where was a good place to get a motor and i suggested 2 places that i know are good. Just be more precise with your comments about stupid people...it was actually one person who told him that his oil control rings where fuct, not 15 of us. Just saying, no offense intended towards anyone.

I was looking at a turbo and it has a slight amount of oil residue in the exhaust side, but it came off a bad motor, is it possible that the engine was pushing burned oil through the turbo to get the oil residue there? I like this turbo cause it has ZERO shaft play and is super clean and reasonably priced.

Once someone said it was the oil control rings, a bunch of people jumped on that bandwagon and agreed with him. It couldnt have been his oil control rings because of the circumstances. It couldnt have been anything other than a blown turbo.
Rotory, I wasnt singling anyone out except the first person to say it was the oil control rings. If you werent one of the people who said his oil control rings were bad, dont take offense. It was the people who said it was his oil control rings that prompted him to ask where was a good place to get a motor. I wasnt referring to you as one of the stupid people(no reason to, you didnt say anythign stupid).
Chaz, you said the turbo came off a bad motor. There is a very good chance that the oil in the exhaust side of the turbo came from the motor, not the turbo. When turbos are bad(aside from the wear you already mentioned), oil comes out the compressor side of the turbo. Thats why the original thread started's car was smoking badly, and he then found oil in the turbo compressor housing and intercooler hose. It sounds like the turbo is fine to me.

Hey guys update. I pulled the motor out of the car today and I took the turbo off. I noticed in the front rotor exhaust port was really black and the exhaust manifold was really black. I also noticed what looked like oil to be leaking out of the exhaust gasket on that front rotor port. The rear port looked ok and didn't have any black residue on it. Could the black residue in the exhaust port be from the turbo blowing? If so why is it not black in both exhaust ports and instead of just the one?

Yeah sorry Mazdaspeed7 I was being an ******* for no reason....I know you are the **** I should've not said anything about it in the 1st place. I know you own me in the rx-7 department anyways. Im glad we do have people like you around to set us all straight when we start screaming "blown motor, blown motor!!" Keep representing!

The black in the exhaust port is just from running rich. Its very common for the front rotor to run richer than the rear(how many blown front apex seals have you seen?). To be honest, I dont reall yknow what to say abou the oil in the exhaust. You said the compression was low, so it might from the motor simply being worn, but its hard to say.

It didn't look like any of the apex seals were blown. We could hear three wooshes of air as we turned the crank pulley over. The apex seals looked good on it. Would a blown apex seal turn it black like that? The car ran ok like it didn't have a blow apex seal, no shake.

Like I said above, the black is probably from running rich. Thats normal. You said your compression was low, what PSI was it(or what was the reading fromthe mazda checker)?

Yeah. Don't judge it to be blown until you know the compression. I checked mine after it blew with a normal compression guage. 0-0-0 on the front and 3x90 on the back. It sounded like a big lawnmower running on only one rotor.

Woah woah woah. Some people need to get their colors straight on this board!
88IntegraLS - You need to take autoshop 101. 550 cc injectors primary are fine, it's secondaries that you got to worry about!
Blue smoke is oil burning.
Black smoke is fuel. - running rich.
White smoke is Water burning.
1. Check your engine compression.
2. Check your Oil Metering Pump. Maybe it's stuck rich if it's electric (broken?).
3. How old is your turbo? If it's over 50K miles, rebuild it.
4. If you are still smoking blue, then your motor is blown! Corner seal or Oil Control rings are bad. Rebuild your motor.
If you don't know what you are doing, expect to have 6-8K saved up for a shop to do it. If you do it yourself, it will cost ~ 2.5K-4K.
