when i was isntalling the ra seals, i noticed it didnt fit, and that you had to stretch it. I think its about how u stetch it and how far you stretch it. I put it on my wrists and pulled while going in a rotating motion kinda like a taffy maker. and just kept rotating and putting in the groove and over and over again, till it fit perfect,
i only used 3/4ths a thing of hylomar. After carfeully dropping the next rotor housing and next iron, i checked and tripple checked that every seal made it in. Note this is my first rebuild, but commen sense tells you, if you have a little bit of seal sticking out, or if you have a space on the outside of the motor, it means your pinching a line. Now maybe you didnt notice. Thats not your fault, your new, but i woudlnt go along blaming ra seals for your pinched lines.
RA seals may have there problems, but im sure with a 2000 mile breakin, and no boosting or minumum boosting, you should pretty much have no problems. assuming you stacked properly.

Lets recap:
Bruce T said there are Quirks.
5-6 people said they had problems fitting the seals.
1 builder has reported over 50% trouble with motors built with these seals.
I don't want to bash any one company. I am only going to say is...."It is what it is". No amount of arguing or yelling will change that. I did a lot of work on different types of rubbers, Buna N, Nylon and Viton + other types of compounds and there are some strange attribute to each. St. Gobain, Johnson and Johnson, Minimed to name a few, all very large companies with huge engineering staffs have had problems working with these materials. Tensile strength, Coefficients of ???? you name it, all these properties can be changed with the slightest change in compound mixture. Look at how those things are made. They are three materials lamintated together and then cut into strips and then bonded together....("the seal" that goes where the intakes are). Trying to get somebody to make those constantly.....tough call.
Back to my original post on this thread. All I am saying is there may have been a problem. AND only Laziness kept me from buying them.
I wouldn't call that company bashing. I may be un-popular for pointing out that there is some dirt under the rug. But I feel that these things should be discussed as this is a 'forum'....by definition a place 'for' discussion. Look what we uncovered with Karacks post about the 13B rebuild kit, priceless. Look what we uncovered with the "Banjo bolt" thread, how many FBs/FCs will not burn.
Try not to censer the discussion when it is not going your way.

Well said hammons.
I am looking forward to felix's progress on his engine. I have yet to rebuild one of my own but will be within the next year, and I like to see everyone's opinions about their personal experiences. As for people who just say these things and they have never actually USED the product....I could care less about what they say.
And as for the people that keep trashing the threads with comments like 'stop your bitching and your whining...", do us all a favor and go play in a busy intersection!
Good luck with your progress Felix....will be watching closely.

Hi,
I pinched a seal too. On the second go around I was extra careful to make sure I got a good clench on the engine and that all surfaces are seated together. For anybody reading this, the importance of getting the o rings to seat and stay seated can not be over emphisized. Also, make sure your grooves are super clean. The seals are good you just have to be careful with them.
I also wonder if a jig could be built that the vendor could put his o-rings onto to give them a little bit of a set / stretch for a few days prior to mailing them out. The jig would be basicl a piece of plywood cut a little oversized to the peanut shape of the groove.
