weird way to have to cold start

I honestly think this is funny but every time I try to start the car in the mourning with the starter it won't start. No matter how long I have it engaged or how many times I engaged it. But it never fails when I just push start (roll it down the hill and pop the clutch in 2nd) the bastard. It starts right up. And of course it Starts with the starter for the rest of the day. Does anybody know why? The only difference is it has a load on the motor and I don't see why I need a load on the motor to start it. Maybe I'll try starting it while the clutch is engaged in 1st. ???? Oh yea, I also have the cold start system hooked to a switch and the only stuff that I found that would help with out smoking is my model airplane fuel. Everything else I try I have a cloud behind me for 5 miles

check the water temperature sensor behind the waterpump, near the alternator. The connector could be broken, resulting in the ECU not injecting the proper amount of fuel for cold start.
