weird short on an 89 tII
I need to know what the Main relay feeds in an s-5. I did a search and only came up with s-4 stuff. Here's the weird thing it melted the large wires coming out of the relay and about six inches into the main harness. Did not melt the plug and didn't blow a fuse either. I've got to get this running for a friend, he has no other car and is using mine till I can fix it.
Other problems that have been fixed but could be related. Fuel pump went out but was replaced, still wouldn't come on so I bypassed the factory system and ran a bosch style relay and fuse. The wires going into the tank at the grommet were broken, fixed that. Then the headlight switch went bad, new switch and everything is fine. Alternator went out, would not charge. Put a used one on that tested good then the main relay problem happens. Anyone think that all this could be related?
Thanks in advance,
Kane

OK pulled the ecu wiring harness. All the grounds are burnt/melted. The ecu has a burnt resistor, fixable though. Haven't found anymore burnt/melted wires on the body side of the harness. All sensors checked out fine, tested per factory manual. Anybody have any kind of idea what is going on here? Also where in the hell is the fuel pump relay I can't find it anywhere.
