Weird question from dumb mistake

So I was ordering all my trans/diff oil yesterday and mixed up what I was ordering by accidentally ordering 3 quarts (amount needed for trans) of Redline SAE 75W90 API GL-4 gear oil, and 2 quarts (amount needed for LSD) of Redline MT90 [SAE 75W90 API GL-5+ Hypoid gear oil]. I know its a far shot but would I be able to interchange the two? The reason I ask is because the MT90 is supposed to be for the trans and the normal 75W90 for the diff.

I got them in today. However, on the backs of the containers, the MT90 says highest performance blah blah blah limited slip and blah blah differentials. The normal 75W90 says a bunch of viscosity stuff for gears. FC3S Pro says the MT90 is for transmissions and the other for diffs. I am really confused but I would really prefer not to have to send a quart back to exchange it for another quart of MT90.

what happen to common sense these days ... if u ordered "too much" of something, just save it for next time ... and order what you missed ... JESUS.

MT90 is a GL-4 oil ... 75w90 is GL5 ... wow ... how u even swap those 2 "specs" around?

it seems that you don't even understand the "very basics", like what oil to use ... you should sell your car to someone who does, b4 u do any damage to it.

You're right, i almost forgot! I guess they let retards be NATEF certified in all 8 automotive areas. It may not be ASE, but come this time next year, I would bet my car ill know more than you. That's what happens when you go to a 58 week automotive college and graduate with a 3.8 gpa and associates degree then to the Mercedes benz School to be a tech for them. Hasn't happened yet but I know it will. All high school I've been avove 3.8 with honors/AP/Dual credit classes. So just for future reference, don't call me a retard. Thank you for you're concern.

Anyway, I got my answer, /thread.

Well the problem is, i'm running tight on money, paycheck to paycheck. I'm only a senior in high school, work at subway, and have been out of a DD since April. No ones fault but my own, however, it doesn't dilute the fact that i'm still in a crap situation.

I'm really not out here to cause problems, start fights, or look dumb; I just wanted some advice, but I guess that's just too hard for some people.

The only reason I chose to go with Redline is because it's a name I hear spoken so highly of all the time and has had good results in both performance and endurance. My main goal is to keep the trans/diff alive as long as possible while getting the most from them. I didn't buy an RX-7 to be a grocery getter, I bought it to have a fun little sports car that I could use every day.

Having a high GPA and being intelligent aren't the same. I have a friend with a 4.0 right now, and while he does great in school, he's got the common sense of a rock.

That said, we all get a kick in the *** when we are noobs. But if you take it in stride and stick around, those kicks stop coming because you learn from them.

I'm not even trying to say i know more now or that I'm better than anyone of anything, I meam we all start from square one right? Lol. I don't know, I just was angered at the fact that instead of just pointing me in thr right direction (the whole meaning of the thread) I get insulted and in the end maybe learn something and left with a sour taste in my mouth (metaphorically speaking).

ROFL. this is what I've been telling my friends :

Colleges are overrated.

Well, u're talking to someone who has worked with government agents, found the cause of some failure, and finally made Mazda issued an extended warranty, maybe you should try that sometime

hmm nah I've never been to "OMG AUTOMOTIVE COLLEGE" but meh at least I know what fluids are ...

I mean really I don't know everything, no one ever will, yes we start at some point, but if I don't know something, I admit it and that's it. You're lucky this is just a forum, once you start working in the real world, most people wouldn't even give you a 2nd chance, u don't know "this? time for you to get out I'll find someone who does.

you'll get my idea one day.

Use the cheapest lubes you can buy at the local parts store and replace all the fluids in the RX-7. Engine oil and filter, trans fluid, diff fluid, brake fluid, coolant, fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, even repack the wheel bearings and lube any ball joint zerk fittings. Keep a log of what was serviced and at what mileage.

These old RX-7s need a lot of service to stay on the road. The best $200 I've spent was probably on new brake pads and discs and lubing the pins on which the calipers slide.

Spending 3x more than you should on hyped designer fluids isn't a smart option for someone in your financial situation. Save your money for college. Books, food, and beer add up. And don't go to a for-profit college.
