Weird hesitation and cranking issue.

Okay so I've got a crazy problem;

My car cranks really really slow for a couple seconds every time I try and start it and then it decides to crank normally and fires up. After that it tends to hesitate and stumble during any kind of acceleration particularly at part throttle and when I let off but just have a bit of throttle still depressed.

After it warms up it tends to behave pretty normally but it does flood sometimes on hot start but it's not a consistent thing.

My first thoughts were battery terminals (bad ground causing hesitation) so I cleaned and refitted them and it worked okay for about a day and then after it seemed to start doing it again.

Any thoughts/places to begin troubleshooting? I haven't checked the TPS yet, but I don't really think it's that because once it warms up it's okay, but I don't know how heat sensitive those are?

Thanks,
Sam

Also my stock temperature gauge doesn't really go up to a 1/3 like it should, it barely gets up to above the "C" after about a half hour of driving. I just replaced the coolant temp. sensor on the back of the WP housing thinking that might be the issue but no dice. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but thought I'd give it a try.
