I weighed my 87 tII at the track last weekend and it weighs 2680... It still has full interior, AC, Heat, Etc etc, so I have no Idea why mines lighter.. also just a couple gallons of gas

My friend is drilling holes 4 holes in his frame to start. Then he is filling it with liquid foam that will expand to fill the entire frame up, "that is what they do with Ferrari's"
Then he is drilling holes every 4 inches to lighten it up. He says that with foam in the frame you will get no body roll and will support the holes in the frame and a loss of 100 pounds. Anyone ever heard of this? Not sure I want to do this.

the foam tightens the chassis, but doesn't remove body roll. i wouldn't suggest cutting holes in the chassis, cause he's replacing steel with foam, doesn't sound too intelligent to me.

Yeah I want to go to a lexan hatch too.
As for that ultra-light FC you've got, I don't want to go removing bumper supports (I like life) and other stuff like that, but I do wnat to go lexan rear and maybe other lexan windows. Now, when I go to put the rollcage in it, then I might consider removing some stuff from the doors (to put the NASCAR style door bars in it for side protection).
And I just realized I made the topic name "weighted" (duh) could someone fix that plz?
Oh, AND I had the spare tire/jack removed and replaced with a bottle of fix-a-flat.

What's the Hvac? and my goal.... is to have 200 HP in 2300 lbs. is it possible to have that in a daily driven FC? It may not be comfortable or quiet, but she will be quite fast.
THanks.. Markus

how much do the bumper reinforcements weigh anyway?
I had thoughts of removing them.. but wasnt sure.
Also on the topic of lexan, i would love to get a lexan rear hatch/side windows... than ditch the Steel hood for an aluminum one. those couple things alone should drop around 100-120 lbs..

HVAC is the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning System. The A/C is already gone completely, but he Heating isn't.

I thought HVAC was Hacking Virii Anarchy and Cracking
haha
you need to have a roll cage in your car if you removed your side impact/door supports. If you get t-boned all thats protecting you is a thin layer of sheet metal-- you'll be turned into ground meat if you get hit.

About the Lexan windows:
They are lighter then glass right. I heard somewhere that it is very hard to break lexan. What if you got into an accident and rolled. Buckling the roof enough to push the doors down and in, then your fucked because the doors won't open now. First thing that comes to your mind in the situation is to kick the window to get out. Now if you have lexan windows, you will not be able to break them with your foot. Owell, you can do what you want, just don't hit anything

...94% correct.
The lexan stuff was hard to come by and I bought it all second hand for close to $500 USD.
I only removed the bumper supports and steel from the doors and such because the car was meant to be a racer. I hardly ever drove it to work and such...just to the local stomping grounds. I also knew that if I got hit with any real force I would be gone...you have to understand that trying to get an ultralight car will most likely kill you before you start this stuff.
I just feel the need at this time to point out that your car's weight and build and your life share a spectrum...weight and build at one end, you at the other. There comes a point when you stop reducing your cars weight and integrity and start loading the gun that will ultimately kill you.
