we got it running! a couple questions.
well we got my car running today, its a series5 jspec from FC3S.org. the engine has great compression, all seals, water orings, all seems well so far.
all i did to make startup easy (err, relatively easy) was filled the housings up with MMO and let it sit for about 3 days, rotating it about twice a day.
so we got it all started and immediately found a couple small problems; (does this ALWAYS happen with engine installs?) an oil leak at the oil cooler feed line, coolant leak at the back of the throttle body/firewall.
we kinked my oil cooler feed line, which i knew was gonna be a problem, so where the oil leak is, its leaking out with tiny tiny bubbles in it. no coolant mixed with it, just tiny bubbles... i think the tiny bubbles are from the oil having to rush through that tiny passage where the oil line is kinked. does that make sense? i could really use some input on this.
the engine is pulling about 300-350 mmHg of vacuum, which i figure is pretty good for an engine that has been sitting not having been started for months. what is a good vacuum reading in mmHg? does 350 sound ok?
also, where can i get another oil cooler feed hose for relatively cheap and fast???
