Ways to lighten the car?

My 7 needs to go on a diet this weekend.

I am gonna remove all the sound stuff, and if all goes well I'll be removing the power steering pump and will be placing the TII manual rack in.

What else can i take out

take the a/c out yet? im planning on doing that soon. a friend of mine takes his passanger seat out quite often. its pretty easy to do. and it bolts back in pretty quick. ive already gotten all my stereo and crap out. i got most of the sound deading out too. the biggest weight saver ive gotten is taking all my exaust off!! is completely off except the headers. they come in on monday. when i get them in, im gettin a straight pipe to a muffler, not sure what kind yet, just a free flowing one. that exaust was a killer though. id like to take it to a scale to see what it weighs now. i think it 2800 stock, right? and whats w/ the power steering? u cant just take it out? u have to replace something? i was planning on taking it out too. there is a way to get that air pump out too, but i think when u do that, u cant open up the 5th and 6 th ports. whats all this for anyways? are u expecting competion next weekend?

I have an 88 GXL and on the registration it says 26xx lbs. Is everyone else this light stock? I know the 89+ are heavier which makes up some for the difference in HP

When I had my GXL, I took out the passenger seat, power steering pump, a/c unit, removed aluminum steel hood, and replaced it with the TII hood. Also, removed carpeting from the rear, and overlayed lightweight dark colored cloth in it's position. I removed the storage bins, and covers and placed that dark colored cloth over it. You know the cylinders in the rear that hold the speakers? I cut them up as low as I could. Hmmm lemme see what else I can remember. Umm, removed washer fluid canister, removed charcoal canister, removed heat shield under car, removed spare tire, and jack of course, removed plastic paneling on sides and replaced it with the cloth once again. If you're wondering, the cloth went into place very well. Didn't look ghetto..it actually looked pretty good. All this weight reduction put me down to like 2589lbs on the weight scale.

Oh yea, and my dB was 114

It’s all about taking out the AC. You drop a bunch of pounds and you get rid of that AC radiator that sits right in front of the engine radiator. With that guy gone your engine will be much cooler.

You can remove the sound deadening material from the floor. I've read about it but haven't done it. Some say it was kinda a pain to do others said it went pretty easy for them. All agreed that it is much louder without.
But you can always take out the spare tire, jack, keep gas tank low, simple stuff like that.

Pull the radio and cruise control. Between the radio, speakers, power antenna and amps you have about 25-30 lbs right there.

Remove the bins (or back seats) thats up to 20 (or 30) lbs

Rear window wiper and assorted plumbing/tanks. Another 5 or 10 lbs.

Spare tire and jack has to be another 15-20lbs.

Replace the power windows with crank/manual windows (another 25lbs)
