POp the hood, put some heat to it for awhile, see if it starts after drying. Done this one to many times myself.

When cleaning an engine bay its important to remember to use as LITTLE water as possible. Not to mention cover all the important electrical items. Use more arm grease to clean instead of all that water.

/\/\..I Fixed your statement!
solution: get a hair dryer out and hit as many electrical connectors as you can with the hot air.
it may take awhile to get the moisture out..BUT you will never do that again, will you??
OH,the car is "flooded" too,so look up deflooding..if you smell gas..you flooded it.It needs dry plugs and all excess fuel out of the engine.

Something is wrong if that happens. You should be able to spray the engine bay down with no issues, you can hose down the alternator with no effects too, as long as the engines off.

You can spray it, but not soak the crap outta it. Some ppl don't know this, put the hose right to it. Ive done it and had no problems, and Ive done it and had issues. It all depends, you get lucky this time, maybe not the next. Plus if you use a degreaser like engine gunk, sometimes that will cause the no start also until it drys. I think it all depends on what gets wet, and how wet. I always clean on a nice hot sunny day, hood popped, and let is sit a few hrs with hood open in the sun to dry it, usually works.
Plugs probably got really soaked.
Hell the directions on all engine degreasers all say, "use as little water as possible"
