You know.... If you wanted to get really silly and had the outputs and the software to do it you could have the pump come on whe AIT are X>Y and then the rad fan turn on when they are >Y, you know.... keeping things simple I like the timer ciruit idea to remove some heatsoak but I would think that both the pump & the fan would need to turn on to do that. Then again, depending on the programming when you start the engine they could both kick on. How long would it take to remove the heatsoak? I have no idea, but I usually get in the car, start it, buckle in settle down and give the motor a minute or so before I romp on it. Would that be enough time to pull some heat out?
How much time is needed to reduce heat soak would involve factors such as ambient temp, underhood temp, heat exchanger efficiency, GPH rating of the pump, having an additional reservoir as NZ suggested, things like that. At this point I'm using the "anything is better than nothing" approach until I can play around with all these ideas. I figure in the approx. 1 minute it takes to get buckled up, fired up and ready to roll, I hopefully have reduced heat soak by 30%, perhaps more, which is better than nothing. And I meant with the timer circuit that I would run both fan and pump.

I understand if the pump or fan is not running the IAT's would gradually rise. What im suggestion though is that above (whatever temp you think is appropriote) turn the pump on. This will circulate the water though both heat exchangers and keep IAT's down and the water itself rather cool as well. However just like a radiator, there is rarely a need to have the fan running while @ highway speeds. With the pump circulating I thing that the water would be kept near ambient temp so that when the Vette did pull up next to you, you could trounce that yuppie/turbo ****. For prolonged trouncing if the IAT rose above a certain temp, the fan would kick on to aid in bringing them down.

No updates as far as my air/water IC setup is concerned. I still have all the parts, still have the desire to get going on the project but I have a major distraction at present. I bought an '88 Vert shell that I'm working on almost daily now and it would be less expensive a project to complete than my TII so it's taking precedence. When I resume the IC project I will make a thread on it with pics. Then hopefully this thread could be cleaned up and archived.

I know it isn't the same thing, but I am going to be putting on my new S-Max intercooler on my Scion this weekend. It is a standard Air to Air intercooler, but it has piping inside of it that snakes back and forth to run CO2, Nitrous, or water through to supercool the intercooler. I plan on using CO2 for when I am at the strip or autocrossing.
