Stock T2 turbos have internal wastegates. Wait on the wastegate shopping until you upgrade your turbo.

Yes, the wastegate is an integral part of the stock turbo. You can port it with a dremel or similar grinding tool. That will eliminate some of the boost creep. Go to http://k2rd.freeservers.com/FC3S/MOD.../wastegate.htm
Also, keeping the stock airbox and a 2.5" exhaust will help too.

sorry, but I had to ask. Why did you go looking for a wastegate if you didn't know what one is? I would have expected a BOV of something.

oh yeah, no one answered your wastegate question, so I guess I will give it a shot. A wastegate regulates your boost. It will keep if from spiking and creep. When you start to modify your car, your natural boost will increase and spike and creep like crazy. So some port the stock wastegate to keep their boost down.

Now when you upgrade your turbo, that is when you go with a cool aftermarket one that you will spend lots of dough on. All cuz the bigger turbos have external wastegates.

Hope that helps
