Want to build an excellent suspension for my RX7 Vert - advice?
My car is a 1988 RX7 Vert with a t2 swap (streetported etc etc)
Ready to start suspension upgrades for auto cross and possible road racing days.
So far I have the following in mind:
1. Cusco Front Upper strut bar
2. Tien SS with EDFC
3. Suspension Techniques - Front and Rear Sway Bars (rear off on track days)
4. Rear strut tower bar (does one exist for the vert?)
5. Triangular brace (trying to find one for the car).
6. Poly Bushings
I want a car that will be FLAT through the corner, yet allow for a bit of play to enable the tires to grip enough around the corners. I want the car to be NEUTRAL ... meaning no understeer and no oversteer, although I would not mind a little bit of oversteer.
With that being said am I going in the right direction? I'm pretty set on the Tein SS and Cusco front strut bar (so I do not want to stray from those parts). What do you recommend .. brand and part wise for the rest of the suspension setup? (Anything Im missing or overcompensating to much for?)

Can't go wrong with replacing those almost 20 year old bushings too! I heard alot about Stance and K sport coilovers being well worth the money too, alot of locals will argue they are more versatile than TIENs

The Tein website does not list the SS as compatible with the EDFC. Get the Flex coilovers, they are compatible with the EDFC and are basically the same as the SS but include the pillow ball mounts.
I don't think the EDFC is compatible with any other brand of coilovers, so if you want the ability to adjust the ride from in cabin you must stick with Tein I think.
I'd go with a triangulated front strut bar. Eventually I will be having a custom one made with the firewall braces being detachable. Mazdatrix makes a triangulated bar but its one piece.
IIRC the vert already has a rear strut bar integrated into the chassis bracing.
Heres what I have in my vert.
Tein Flex W/EDFC
Full Energy Suspension bushing kit
adjustable Mazdatrix rear camber links
Mazdatrix competition DIff mounts
DTSS eliminator bushings
I used to have a RB strut brace, but thats been removed until I get my custom triangulated bar made.
Drove around once like this WITHOUT one of the vert specific cross braces under the car(forgot it was taken off) the car stuck very well on corners. Have yet to really push the setup though.
Hope that helps. I hope you didn't order the Tein SS & EDFC yet. I just now saw this thread.

I have cusco coilovers on my 89 turbo vert and they perform excellent for flat cornering. I also have very thick sway bars (forget brand) and jdm front strut bar and the car is as if on rails.... oh and the 17x9 mazdaspeed rims help too
Your intended setup sounds very good, I'm sure you'll be pleased.
