what the good stuff to use to clean out your rotary engine?
seafoam?
water?
ATF trick?
Marvel Mistery Oil?
Good ol' redline the motor ?

And the steps to use the product. Expect the last one which is pretty self explainable. I want to have this as a sticky for Future ref. and Keep our motor running and clean.

Well, the ATF trick will kill the seals quicker than anything, so that's a no.

Seafoam? I heard some bad things about that, but nothing that i know.

Redlining the motor I hear is great for breaking up the carbon buildup! Plus, with 3 moving parts, you can't go too wrong :p

Other things I have no clue.

I have used seafoam on rotaries for years. Works wonders, never a negative result.

The only thing ive ever heard bad about sea foam is if you do the direct manifold suction method it can clog up certain catalytc converters (from all the carbon that gets cleaned out of the engine). I've personally never used that method on a car with a cat converter. If its a car with a cat i run it through the gas tank. But none of my rotaries have ever had cats for more than two weeks after owning them.....and i have used the manifold vac line trick on them many times. Decarbons the engine nicely, no problems.

Seafoam is good stuff when used correctly, but IMO lots of this stuff is snake-oil.. If the carbon isn't hurting anything.. leave it there... breaking off large chunks of carbon could make your engine run slightly worse (pop).

I have heard good things about ATF, seafoam and water. ATF is the only thing I have heard bad stories about. I used brake fluid in my engine before putting it in because looking through the exhaust ports, the rotor housings were covered with some gunk/carbon. Compression before that was around 85. That was around 20K miles ago. I have yet to do another compression check . The engine runs VERY strong though.

Hey, I'm all for the "If it runs good, there's no problem" crowd :P
