Volts dropping now car won't start :(
On my way home just now on the highway, my volts dropped down slowly to about 10 when my CD player kicked out and it hovered around 9-10 when it should be around 13. I turned it off and tried starting it but all it did was 'ticktickticktickticktick'. Alternator gone or something else? Help ASAP!!!
Thanks

Definatly sounds like a dead alternator. Take it to a car shop and see if they can test it, or just replace it. (Make sure your belts aren't missing/slipping first

Well I'm about 20 miles out of town, so I don't really want to do that. I don't imagine changing an alternator is a big deal. Any suggestions about them? Is there aftermarket ones I should know of? How big should I get?

Unless you are running some massive stereo system, or have had issues with your battery dieing previously (before it died), then I believe you can find higher output ones, I'm not sure where from however. Your local parts store may have an alternator to fit, might want to give them a call. It's fairly easy, just two bolts and it comes free. Make sure you disconnect your battery before hand, or else you're in for a zap or two
