get one that has upgraded the following areas:

has reset boost limit to 10 or 12 psi
has no fuel cut
has no speed limit
has no rev limit
you should also get a good aftermarket boost gauge.
the above items should solve most of your car problems with boost, detonation, leaning, etc.
i currently have a 1990 t2 with about 325rwhp.
the only things NOT stock are the:
exhaust - racing beat full race
ecu - fully reprogrammed by progress
air filter - k/n
radiator - koyo
that's just the engine/power mods.
i also run a boost of 1bar/14psi.
hope that helps and good luck

the stock turbo's effiency drops off after 13 psi, after that, your just producing heat. your probably making more hp at 12 or 13 than 15, especially with the stock tmic. so does anyone have one of the rrfpr's? is it a viable alternative to a set of injectors and an s-afc?

i made a little boo boo. it is actually running at 14.7psi=1bar.
the car runs rich actually. i'm always having to wash my exhaust tips.
i tried to load a picture, but, i think it was too big.
my favorite kill so far was a corvette, going UPHILL !!
man was he pissed!! never got withing 2 car lengths. every time he tried to come up on me i'd just keep stepping into it! sweet )

So you're pulling 325 rwhp with a turboback and a cone filter on the stock turbo. Interesting.......

I'll also bet that was on the 1st pull on a cold morning before the IC heat soaked.
I love cold mornings..

I would love to see those A/F charts, infact the dyno would be interesting.

You need to port the wastegate so you can hold your boost at a certain level.

With his mods the stock wastegate will not be able to hold down the boost at stock levels. The boost controller can only raise boost and cannot lower it past stock levels. With the mods on his car the boost levels are past stock already. In this case the boost controller would only raise boost which is not the wisest decision in his situation.
EDIT: You dont need to port your wastegate to use a MBC but it would be smart.

Yeah isn't a boost controller meant to raise the boost levels?
Also that guy with the 14psi on stock system with a programmed ECu doen't sound right. The injectors/pump start to struggle with fuel because they start to get near max after around 10-11psi.
Also who programmed your ECU? Almost no one does that for our cars. There is a guy currently looking into this but I think Higgins is the only one close to this. Rtek7 or something?
325 hp is pretty high since people upgrade to T04's to get in that range so your engine must be ported or something.
Anyways.
The stock S4 turbo tends to kill itself after 13-14psi. It isn't meant to boost that much. Also the waste gate is a single outlet design which will creep so you need to port it. You can go bigger than the flapper but make sure the flapper has no way of getting stuck in the hole.
Definitely get some fuel though. It's better to get bad gas mileage and run rich then lean and detonate your engine.
