I thought they looked rather nifty on 7's. I've wanted to put them on my car, but it needs to get a new paintjob first.

There are 3 more things other than them being ghey:

1. Most aftermarket kits wont let the doors close perfect as they would.
2. closing the door is crappy as hell and takes longer.
3. getting into the car is more complicated.

its for show, not for daily driving or racing.

It may have a better chance at looking good to me if they where stable at least.

I watch it all the time, when they're fully open, they wobble back and forth from wind breezes....

It's a cheap imatation. Nothing more. Almost all of them I've seen.

I agree most are flimsy POS setup but I seen some on a black and silver vert a few years in Tampa at Slamfest and they were nice but they were a custom made deal

Yeah but imagine the parking spots you could get. For example, at my school the parking lot is un-paved thus there are many areas that are not marked. So people park far enough apart that I can get in, but I cant open the door. If it opened up, problem solved and I can get a sweet spot close to the exit and avoid traffic.

OK you can open your door but the guy next you decides he needs to open his... and BAM there goes your doors with lambos just cuz you could get in the spot... I think I would prolly have to higher a full time guard to watch my 7 if I parked close enough to someone to let them hit my car.

yes sir, these are the 2 vehicles in question, these lambo kits are custom made for only 2nd gen FC's made of tempered cromoly steele. 2-25 pound gas shock lifters on each side...

what's the price tag on those?
How much do people usually spend to ADD weight to their car?

My opinion: Lame. If you were installing them for show or something, that might be alright (not my style... but still). However, if it's just to look cool, I think it's not worth the trouble.

As a side note: There's also threads to help you do the "sleepy eye" look for you headlights. :-/

Yeah these do nothing for us hardcore racers, LAME!

Just kidding! I dig these, they are just plain cool. If I was driving down the street and saw a vertical door kit with a "FREE" sign on it I would totally take it. I don't know if I would pay $1,000 for it though.

after looking more into the lambo door kit, i'd rather save the weight and the rice and just weld the doors shut like dukes of hazard!

funny thing is most of the kits (well the so called "good ones" go out sideways then go in, so the usefull thing is totally out of the qeustion for some of the kits. i have a buddy with a R32 GTR and he wants toget these, i told him it's a waste, but he wants too, i would never alow myself to riceify a car like that (well an RX 7 for that matter) i'll let it stick to Lambo's where it belongs, you want somthing orignial go with a setup like the RX 8's, cut your door in half then set it up like the 8's if you want something "custom" i'de save your money if i was you, but your choice.

i like them, but my friend got it done for his rx8... and like 2 months later some bonehead opened his door too hard not knowing they were vertical doors and busted one of the struts, bent his fender, and tweaked the mechanism....... if you read the directions, they even say how easy it is to damage the mechanism if "used improperly".......... so you have to make sure ANYONE who opens that door knows they are lambo doors!
