It's the same thing, the V-AFC just has an extra output to control the VTEC.&nbsp All the setting should be set the same...

?-AFC

You should be able to use the V-afc without connecting the vtecline..and use it as JUST a AFC.....

Digging this beast up.

How about using the VTEC control to electically activate 5th and 6th ports?

Whats this crap I hear about the VAFC only being able to read honda MAP sensors?

the difference between a MAP sensor and the AFM on rx7s is big enough for me to think that it wouldn't work. the instructions that come with a VAFC are very honda specific and it wouldn't make sense for them to waste money making the unit more versatile to work on other applications.

*oh and the vafc needs a proper oil pressure reading to allow functioning of the vtec.

but they DO make the unit more versitile. thats the SAFC.

the VAFC has control of the VTEC, which in turn could be used as electric aux port activiation.. as where i understand the SAFC doesn't?

the VAFC is generally the same as the SAFC, except that it has that extra control. I'm trying to figure out if the MAP / AFM can work with a little effort.

Using searches, people have mentioned they have working VAFCs in rx7s (well only 1 guy but it was his 'friend' ), and only it came up once that the MAF design wont work.

however I trust RETed over anyone else, so.. that's why I'm bringing my findings to the table

Actually if you could get the manual, that would be great..

unless it's anything like the SAFC manual (80% Japanese).

the the difference is the vafc has the vtec crap (which you mentioned) and you cannot choose the sensor type (such as flap/hotwire etc) you can only change the sensor number. I have had one on my FC, but it was weird. I dunno if it was just a defective unit but + was lean and - was rich. But it was able to alter the signal to do fuel adjustment. If you want to hook it up, all the wires are the same color I believe as the safc and there is an extra wire for the ACC (power) like the 2 ground cables (one closer one further from ecu). I hope this helped and OT: I decided to do job rite and put in a safc II the other day.

That makes the most sense. I don't think there is anything better then the V-AFC besides the vtech option. Beside you never know... you may be able to sell the V-AFC high and buy the S-AFC low... lol possible small 20 or 30 dollar profit... But hey every little bit helps when buying parts

I searched and VAFC came up a shitload of times. I wanted some more 'up-to-date' knowledge/opinions.
