Vacuum hoses: Let's see if I've got this right...
First off, I have an S5 non-turbo. I want to make sure this is right. If it's correct, I thought it might be good reference material for some people. I did a lot of searching and there seems to be some confusion in this area. (Probably since this isn't thoroughly covered in the FSM, imho
.)
(I just discovered today that the cruise control hose and the hose from the double throttle diaphragm were switched. (The red hose was connected to the thermo valve and the blue hose was connected to the uim.) I think the previous mechanic did that, so I put it back how it was when I bought the car (first pic). It doesn't seem to run any differently, though
.)
Here's how my car is set up now:

Here's how I think it's supposed to be (S5 n/a):
I can get the check valve from mazdatrix, but what about the T-shape thing? I'm thinking it's just a generic thing I can get at any auto parts store.![Dunno](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/dunno.gif)

Yeah, you've got it right. The double throttle diaphram will see vacuum only when the thermowax has heated up. This keeps the outer secondary throttle plates closed when the engine is cold. The check valve prevents the diaphram from seeing any positive pressure. Then, the cruise control is tee'd into the same vac source. You can find a good assortment of tees at Pep Boys. I haven't had as much luck at other stores like Kragen, Napa, etc... About a 3/16" diameter tee will work perfectly.
