URGENT! Top pulley locknut broke
Im not sure of the official name of this bolt but its the big bolt that goes into the small pulley all the way on the top. I put my car back together and I was torquing the bolt on both tensioner pulleys to 40 ft lbs as specified, and the one snapped. Where can I find another one of these bolts that have the hole to put the adjusting bolt through from the top? I need my car back and running again as soon as possible to drive to school.

If the bigger pulley is the power steering pulley next to the one I have circled isnt needed to drive the car, let me know becuase if Im still able to drive it with no problems with the belt off from those pulleys, Ill do it until I can get another tensioner bolt.

most common car I see with manual adjusters is mitsubishi galants with the 2.4 I believe. I dont know if its the exact same size but you should beable to find one in a junkyard and just take the bolt including the pulley to be sure it fits right. I think the same engine is used in dodge neons, also common.

I torqued the bottom pulley next to the ac to 25 ft lbs, but I need to get a new pulley because its not spinning anymore and grinds against the metal if loosened enough to allow it to spin. I just took off both ac and ps belts and drove to school and back. It was a bit of work at first without power steering but then I got used to it.
Wrong bolt. My apologies. Apparently it's supposed to be 27-40 ft-lb for that one. Thought is was a smaller since I never took mine off. Still suggest going toward the middle of that range for that one, though.

OP, are you sure your torque wrench isn't in Newton-Meters? Or maybe it's out of calibration?
You broke 4 bolts changing a water pump. I guess it's not unheard of (present example excluded) but that's not common. Are you cross-threading these or something?
