That's a bit expensive for a private party purchase, but I guess it's about right if you bought it from a dealership. Anyway, congratulations, and I hope you have as much fun with it as I have with mine.

I recommend Castrol GTX motor oil, Mazda brand oil filter from the dealership, and an optional Fumoto F-106 Regular Valve oil drain valve if you want to make oil changes a lot easier. Make sure you use ethylene glycol coolant (green stuff) and mix it with distilled water from the grocery store. The factory service manual in the FAQ section of this forum lists the oil weight, coolant mixture ratio, etc., for your given weather conditions.

For decent all-weather performance, long tread wear, and cheap price, check into the Falken Ziex ZE-912 tires. They were rated #1 for cheapie autocross tires by Grassroots Motorsports.

Racing Beat makes excellent exhaust systems (also sold by Mazdatrix), and if your funds are tight you can get a good budget catback from Rotary Performance.

I haven't driven an RX7 home yet-they were all towed! And none of them had been titled this century!

Don't go hog wild with mods until you own it awhile. Focus on the maintenance. There are lots of RX7s. This may be the right one for you, but it might just be a learning experience.

Good Luck, Have Fun

Maintenance is a big concern on my mind. The first bunch of parts I'm getting are focusing on bringing this car to a comfortable drive. The only performance mods are exhaust, and if you want to call this performance, a k&n drop in filter, and R&R a bunch of items. This may or may not be the best first car I purchased. I spent 8 months finding the perfect 240(dumb mistake). It took 4 weeks to find a great rx7. I'm gonna try to get my parts real soon. When I get all this, I'm going to make tutorials. That's my plan. I can't wait til tomorrow!

Not going to lie, the entusiasim is quite refreshing. You remind me of when I first bought my RX. Almost a year ago.

Man! the day I was going to get it, ITS AN ICE STORM!!! I'm having trouble looking for just a ballpark estimate how long until I should rebuild it. that arroncake.net place doesn't have it. I really don't want to go with the flow on this. because, I'm going to start saving for it, I would get off track if I do it myself. I know its a bit over $2k, with a $500 deposit. Anyways, after I do a complete flush and change some lines to ss braided, Will I last til summer?
