upper radiator hose exploded!
Today while driving a friend home, my temp gauge started to climb... when I was about to pull into his driveway, the upper hose exploded.
There is a hole the size of my hand in the hose. I went and bought another one, and had my radiator cap tested. The cap was bad, so I was like cool.. .that might be the problem.
Put the new hose on, and the new cap and filled it up. Started it up, and the hose was cold and cool... so I was in a great mood then... thinking it was fixed. Started to drive home, and..... the temp gauge went out of control... I filled the coolant but it keeps saying it needs more.. and I keep adding it.. but it keeps drinking it down...
Any ideas? gonna try to flush the radiator tomorrow.. and replace my thermostat.. but any other ideas?
TIA

Start replacing other hoses, if the cap was bad and overpressurized the system, you'll probably have other hoses leaking.
Check your waterpump weep hole for coolant leakage there, check your heater hoses as well.
The coolant has to be going somewhere, can you smell it in the exhaust?

As for the heater hoses, I turned on the heat to try and cool the car a little, but the heater was blowing cool air... didn't get any heat to it at all...
I couldn't smell any coolant in the exhaust.. but then again, I am sick as a dog right now and can't smell anything...
At idle it looks like everything stays cool just fine... it spits lots of coolant out of the overflow bottle tho... then heats up like no other when driving...

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
anytime ther eis *that* much pressure int he cooling system you know it is being pressurized from combustion gases pressing water out. save for an engine my friend. It will continue to get worse.
