Upgrading the stock S5 turbo

Ok guys I need your opinion here. I am leaning hard towards a upgrade from BNR...but I know I have other choices.

So here it goes....my initial thought is to do this:
Go to BNR and get the following done to my turbo:

60-1 compressor wheel
T04B dynamic Package
360 thrust package
15 degree clipped turbine
ported wastegate
ported turbine housing entrance
all new piston rings/bearings ect.

After I get that on I am going to move my 720cc secondaries to my primary and get 850cc+ for secondary. After that I will take the remainder of my money and get either a Haltech E6k or E11.

Now if I do the above that will pretty much take all $3,000 I have sitting in the bank for my upgrades.

My other option I saw was the following:
HKS T04E Upgrade for 89-91 RX-7 Price $2,600.00
Greddy TD06 Kit for 89-92 RX-7 Price $2,450.00

With this done I would defiently need to upgrade my injectors also...but this would not allow me to purchase a haltech.

What would you guys do?

Read my mods in my sig for everything I have done to my car so far.

those upgrades are not worth it... you can build you own kit for alot less.

it all depends how much power you want? the to4's will put out 400+ at the wheels (11 sec 1/4 mile) that is way to fast for most people.

the upgrade will put out 300+ or so at the wheels. more then engouh for the street. cheaper, and alot easier.

personly I'd wait till you got another $500 or so then you could probably get a to4 setup and a haltech.

You need 2 x 720cc, 2 x 850cc+, a T04E, HKS cast manifold, Tial 40mm wastegate and little stuff like oil and water feed lines. Much much less than $3k. The only reason to buy the "name brand" upgrades is for brand recognition.

BTW, Dale Clark has done almost exactly this - he's running a T04 + support on the stock ECU and it's p1mp. He's the man to talk to if you don't want to go standalone.

Yea, you can get the GReddy e-manage for much less than a full standalone. Another option is microtec or some thing like that. Its actually a full standalone but is alot cheaper. Well any way you do it, don't short change the ECU part.

I would do the T04E, HKS cast manifold, Tial 40mm wastegate but I am afraid that if I do this it will require change to my FMIC. Can this turbo be put in the same place where there will not be much change needed for my intercooler.

Also how much would all this cost me.

I found this:

Cast Manidold (T04, Standard Wastegate) For 87-91 Mazda RX-7 $251
HKS Standard Wastegates $345

How much does the T04E go for?

My goal is for 350hp or a little more.

the 60-1 will run 425 at the wheels or so. so 500hp.

turbos are around $1000. the hks standard WG is probably too small.

does anyone here have experience with the BNR stage 2 to4b package or the stage 3? maybe some dyno sheets, timeslips, your personal take on the turbo itself (spool-up, top-end/low-end power)? thanks alot. in an attempt to help this thread out, sjordan, you may just have to re-bend your piping to link up to the t04e.

yes you would probably have to rebend the pipe a bit. but you would have to on either of those kits as well.

man so many freaking choices.

I look at the BNR stage 3 and it seems very nice and would be alot easier to do. But I am wondering if I do this mod with the haltech and reach 350HP+ will I want more?

Maybe I should just stop there I mean this is going to be my daily driver

I'd really like to see some dyno plots of the BNR staged upgrades, or any other hyrbid t2 turbo since I hope I'll be going that way pretty soon.

well when and if I do this upgrade I will defiently put her on a dyno....I will have to for the haltech turning. I'll get Don from Marvelspeed.com to give me a Dyno sheet when he tunes it all out for me.

Now to choose between a E6k and E11

I have a brand new hybrid turbocharger for the 2nd generation RX7s. Garrett T4 to Hitachi hybrid, direct bolt on to stock S5 manifold, direct bolt on for downpipes, etc...

ZERO miles on the turbo! I have pictures for the turbo.
PM me if interested, make offer, or whatever...

the e11 is $1500 and you can pick up an ek6 for 1000. I bet there will be alot of used ek6's on the market soon once the e11 takes off more. it's still hard to find. I don't think they sell it in the US yet.

Would the e6k be fine for most applications. I am gonna push 350 max hp out of my motor. I heard that haltech is gonna have two drastic price cuts on the e6k once the 11 comes out.

the only cool thing about the e11 is it can run the S5 electric oil pump. other then that the ek6 is more then fine.

so you either need the S4 mechical one or run premix.
