upgrade rx7 non turbo to turbo 2
i recently bought a 1987 rx7 13b non turbo and have a new turbo 2 engine what ecu should i get and do i have to get the wire harness too! and do have to get anthing else the engine is a jdm from japan with only 28,000 miles on it , it is complete with everything including 5 speed transmission, the only thing missing is the pump can i use the one from the old 13b or do i need it too!, thanks if anyone has input its my first time on this web site.

You are going to need the T-II wiring harness and ecu or go standalone such as Haltech. You are going to lose emissions control if you even care about that. The waterpump may or may not work on that engine. If the J-spec is '87-'88 then your existing one will work. If it is '89+ it will not. Tranny will not bolt to your driveshaft. You will need to get the T-II driveshaft, differential, half-shafts. Another thing I have been told but can't verify is that the driveshaft from a convertible will bolt a T-II tranny to the n/a rear. Never tried though.

once of my friends did the swap
was driving around with the N/A tranny for a while (was pushing enough power to the ground to beat a stock FD with ease) then switched to a TII tranny and use the auto driveshaft and it did work but it was a little shorter so it leaked fluid.
then he ended up changing the driveshaft and found some adapt piece that let him use the TII tranny with his N/A rear so that can be done. but ended up blowing something on his rear end I think with drag radials dumping at about 6000 rpms....

hehe never said anything about him using a TII flywheel
but yeah he used the N/A clutch and flywheel on his turbo motor and it did fine
even with the tranny in my car it is still doing ok
I plan on going with a TII motor myself soon and will prolly just use the N/A tranny and clutch setup till I can get a good TII tranny

tranny
dont worry about using a non turbo tranny, they will hold up if they have low miles on them , i have 60 thousand on mine and im at the track every 2 weaks with streat slicks , i put two rods in the diff mount and sqeezed a rubber bushing between the diff and the body its bullet proof my rx is a gxl with a jspec t2 motor ,as well with a superchips upgrade best time was 12.7 i love converting a gxl to a t2 i learn so much i am no expert but i have done six of my budys cars and they love it ,it is so easy once you have done it a few times if you need help email me at verly6565@yahoo.com

just sell the NA and your J-spec engine and get a friggen TII. no hassles, you don't have to worry about what ecu or wiring harness untill you start to upgrade. plus its just a pain in the *** to do the change to a turbo.
