Put it before the AFM, and have a ghetto *** check valve before it after the filter. That way IF it does happen to flow more air than the engine is sucking it wont spit it out of the filter and only pressurize/send it in the intake..... though the check valve will never be used.... its just in case.... man im stupid

Good luck with the project! You remind me of my neighbor who is always trying new things, I think it's cool. Listen to Kristopher he seems like a level-headed guy with a postitive outlook on life, I wish there were more of us.

Don't listen to guys like NZ convertible, he's the type that sits at home on the computer all day (evident by his post count) and trys to make people feel bad. I think the root of his attitude comes from the fact that he wished he lived in a good country like America, lol.

P.S. Keep me updated by PM if you like, that way you can avoid all the nasty flamming you are receiving. I'll be glad to help you in any way I can.

I have the ultimate idea.

Remove all the spark plugs from the engine so it spins easily. Now connect the alternator output directly to the starter, and set the key to the "START" position. Take out the battery since it's just extra weight. Put the car in 1st gear, and give it a push. Jump in as it begins to move. It'll run forever!

Aah, the ignorance of youth...
My posts on this forum are based on my fairly extensive knowledge of RX-7’s, rotaries and engineering in general. If you’d read anything other than this crazy thread you’d know that. Hell, I’ve probably forgotten more than a kid like you knows. Why the hell would I waste my time here just to make someone feel bad? I’ve got much better things to do.
I think the root of his attitude comes from the fact that he wished he lived in a good country like America.
So now you need to insult where I live? Ever been here? I’ve visited the US and would love to return; it’s one helluva country. But to live? Absolutely no way...

untill you get to an uphill LOL starter with 60amps would probably spin it around 50rpm

Well, I see some problems and might advise against doing it, to save on blowing an engine. If I read this right, your gonna use an air pump, like a smog pump to pump air into the intake and not thru the throttlebody? I cant remember, but does the FI rotaries have a vane air meter off the airfilter housing? Most efi mazdas do. Here is what will happen, and I wont object to being adventerous and trying new things but it isnt a good idea. If your running it into the intake and not thru the air meter, and bypassing the throttle body, your doing the same as a massive vacuum leak. At best, you wont have any manifold vacuum, the ECM will get confused because its showing a reduced amount of air going thru the air meter, so it will lean out the engine, but the O2 sensors will beg to differ. Itll prolly stall out. Thats the best case. The worst, the ECM will get unconfused, sorta, and dump more fuel and rev the **** out of it. Seen a Chevy Vortec 5.7L stretch a rod because of a intake gasket that didnt seal right. WHen the tech started it, it redlined instantly and well you know. Granted you dont have rods, but you got things that could break still. If you wanna get a feel for what it will do, disconnect the vacuum line to your brake power booster, and start the engine.

My rough estimate - the RX-7 emissions air pump would make a fair supercharger for a 3HP Briggs & Straton. Maybe with a 3:1 overdrive pulley. Does anyone have a clunker go-cart to try it?

BB Stacking.
You're the first BB stacker that I have actually met.

However, I think the BBs are stacked against you.

Yes, he has made a air pump that makes more air than stock.

But this whole thing is like someone porting thier windshield washer nozzles!!!

There is NO WAY.. and I mean none...
(Are you listenin PK?)...
that this will work.

The only positive pressure that you will create will be AFTER YOU EXCEED THE AMOUNT OF AIR THE AIR FILTER WILL ALLOW TO PASS THROUGH (backwards).

Only then will the air want to increase pressure noticably in the intake manifold. (a pressure which you will never reach)

I see that there are those that really are trying HARD to make a friend here. (kristopher_d)

I mean I see no OTHER reason steated in REALITY that someone would promote the efforts of PEACEKEEPER on this project. You actually wasting his time.

As a matter of fact, some of the other supportive posts concern me when they start saying melodramatic stuff like:

"Let him be..wer're all free to do...(whatever)"

"To kill a mans dreams is to kill a beautiful ... (whatever)"

"I place my hand in the fan of air and one side is blown and the other is sucked.. (WHATEVER)"

I'm wondering if there is some unspoken aganda here..
I mean im not HOMOPHOBIC or anything... but maybe you should move this to the lounge?

You know,
Pull up a couch..
Stick whatever you want in a fan..
Suck or blow... I dont care...

Just don't try to come off as "the better man" by re-enforcing a BAD IDEA and being all ........

"GIMME A HUG!"

This thread has to be the worst case of testing a hopeless idea..

I'm sure we'll talk about this one for a long time.
Heck it might even become a new catch phrase.

"Hey, I'm gonna cool my pool down with the chilled water dispenser on my fridge!"

"AWESOME IDEA!, but you'll have to hook a ported air pump up to it!"

May the Shwartz be with you...

Man are you clueless BlackSport0187. NZ is one of the most head on straight, square shooting guys with actual serious Mazda experience. I trust what ever he says.

But you don't even know that a Sport is not a base model...

Just a thought guys, do you know that one time a class of aeronautical engineering students were given all the technical specs of a bumble-bee, weight to mass ratio, wing surface area, wing span and all that tech ****.
The whole class without exception proved without a shadow of a doubt that something with those specifications could not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES fly! They were then taken outside and shown the thing they had just proved could not fly buzzing around.
Think about it.

I'm sure NZ knows his stuff, but does he have to be a dick to everyone? There are other ways to use your knowledge than to make others feel stupid.

Oh and by the way, here in the U.S. (don't know about other countries) the Sport was an option for the base model RX-7. IT"S NOT A SEPERATE MODEL!! Although it should have been, it's not. It doesn't take years of research to find that out, take five minutes and you will see that I am right.

No I have never been, and I have no desire to do so. Why go some place else when I live in the best country in the world? That may be an ethnocentric statement, but that doesn't make it any less true.

Oh and by the way, when does being old mean you are definately smarter than someone younger than you? I know a lot of old dumb people, as well as young ones.

No, being older means more experienced, and thats what NZ was aiming to make a point....

experience and intelligence are two vastly different things, and a person can have one without the other....although I think NZ must be equipped with both

After this is done you can try ported throttle pedals and cross-drilled oil pans to make even more power

With just a little luck, when the Big Earthquake happens and California breaks off from the mainland, maybe, just maybe Eugene Oregon will break off also and drift down below and become the 145th island in the Bay of Islands. Then the NZ Air Force can use it as a bombing range. some humor, some not.

If you don't understand the above, just press on to another subject.

EDIT: KUDOS for the cross drilled oil pan idea. I'll be doing that the first thing in the morning after I finish the pedal mod. I still think the original thread was written as a piece of humor. He was not serious. Really. Its a gag. You guys have been taken in.

Not everyone, just those who refuse to accept the advise of a whole bunch of knowledgeable people.
There are other ways to use your knowledge than to make others feel stupid.
Sorry I haven't got time to sugarcoat everything I say in case I upset someone. I'm just trying to get the facts across. I come here to share and gain knowledge about RX-7's, not make people feel better about themselves.
Why go some place else when I live in the best country in the world?
That's a pretty sad attitude, I pity your closeminded view of the rest of the world.
That may be an ethnocentric statement...
"American" is not an ethnic group. If you're going to try to impress us with big words, learn what they mean.
...when does being old mean you are definately smarter than someone younger than you?
I never said I was smarter than you, I said I knew more than you. As Ace said, that comes from experience, not intellect.

Thanks Mark and Ace.

In an effort to save this post and make it more...

USEFUL..

Lets talk about somthing else.
Here are some potential subject suggestions.

How often do you see chipmunks?
What is your favorite TV show?
I think that more people should be like David Hasselhoff, dont you?
I like Bears. But why don't they like me?
Business cards, shouldn't they be edible?

Pick one if you like.

Here I'll take 5 minutes to prove your wrong, since you didn't read the thread you started on the Sport:

Here this is the third page in Mazda's descriptions of the 86 models. The base model was listed on the first page.

But that wasn't proof eh??? Hows this: Note under the model designation in the upper left hand corner. It says Model: RX-7 GS 2P

The base model was a S on the factory window sticker in that location. And the Luxury was GX, and the GXL was... yep you guessed it GXL. And that car was sold and delivered to the USA.

But I guess these car were made probably before you were out of diapers... so when I was driving one bought from the dealer, you were just playing with plastic toys.

Hey good one! You proved my point for me. The ad says "Sport Package", does it say Sport model? I don't think so. I'm sure they were designated from the factory with a different model designation, why would they do that you say? So they could keep track of which base models were to be turned into Sports via the option package.

Yeah, I was 3 years old when my car was sold, but I have all the original fancy sales materials that you do and in no piece of it is the car refered to as an RX-7 Sport. It lists the car as an RX-7 with the Sport package.

Thanks for your help old man,
Isaac

I'm sorry is there a magical listing somewhere that compiles all the known ethnic groups in the world? Yeah okay old man, time to change your diaper. Many would argue that America does have it's own culture and is it's own ethnic group. Although we are compiled of many said groups we are all distinctly Americans. But I'm not here to argue about pointless things like this.

I'm sure you are smarter than me, and wiser than me, but my opinion matters just as much as yours does. The mindless lackeys that wipe your butt for you might not agree, but it is true.

Later,
Isaac
