Universal Muffler that won't hurt my ears, have header, looking ofr advice.
Best sounding universal muffler?
Ok, here is what I am looking for:
For my '87 Project RX-7 I am looking to go cheap and make some power too, while trying not to blow out anyone's ear drum. In the past I have heard some opened up Rotaries that sound horrible, almost to the point of being ear piercing. I don't want that. Don’t want to be the guy with the really loud and annoying weed eater car.
I am about to rip out the stock exhaust and put in a custom one. Here is what it is going to be. Racing Beat 2-1 Header, Racing Beat Pre-Silencer, going to do between 2" - 2.5" pipe all the way back to the muffler. It will be a single muffler system to save $$$ and weight. I am looking to just get a universal straight through muffler. This car will be used for Open Track events and AutoX, no street driving required.
Here is the question, what Brand muffler is quiet yet provides good power? Should I look at ones with an optional silencer? Probably don’t want to spend more than $200. Closer to $100 is better.

I just got some magnaflows installed on my TII and they sound GREAT... I'll get some sound clips up sometime. It has a very nice low tone, not sharp or bumblebee-like at all.
