Where is the best place to get ignition power and lighting power? I am wiring up gauges through relays but need to know where to hook into those two types of power? This is an 89 TII. I was thinking for the lighting the light for the ring around the cigarette lighter? Will that work and what about ignition?

If you are looking for a power signal to a relay the cigarette lighter should work fine, or maybe an illumination wire to the radio if you can find it. The ignition? I'm assuming you want a switched 12v signal when the car is turned on? just about anything electrical in the dash would have that. Radio, clock gauges, etc. etc. As long as you're not pulling more amperage through them and just switching a relay any of them should work. I would personally try to use the radio for ease of finding the switched circuits and its location (but I'm not sure where your gauges are going). Hope this helped a little.

Hmm does the cig lighter work when the car is off? I could use it as a key on power source I guess. I will have to hook up the battery to see where and when power is on certain wires. I am installing a haltech and 7 autometer gauges. Damn did I mention I hate wiring....Thanks again for the input.
