Ujoint and Driveshaft information ..
Ok, I believe I need to purchase some new Ujoints for my drivetrain here... Lots of vibration,, and all my mounts looking good (new tranny mount too)
Well I first look at mazdatrix page for their Ujoints, and they only have "aftermarket driveshaft" u joints available..
Well I believe my driveshaft is just plain old stock on my 86 Base model... The only regular ujoints they have on their webpage is 79-82 (OEM driveshaft).
Anyone know where I can purchase regular Ujoints for my car ? I really don't want to spend $250+ on a new aftermarket driveshaft unless I have to...
U joints themselves are like 20 dollars each...
Any help would be appreciated!
(I, myself, could not find this info through the search option. if I missed a post that would answer this question could you please post the shortcut to it please? Thank you!)

you are suppose to buy a new drive shaft when u-joints go out...but
I ran into this problem on my nissan truck ...you are suppose to buy new drive shaft with it too
but we have a great parts store in my area
I removed the old u-joints ( a pain)
carried them to parts store and we crossed ref.'d
them with another size and I went back togather with it
and have had no problem what so ever and that has been 20,000 miles ago...just food for thought....

You need to replace the whole drive shaft the u-joints are not made to be removed on our cars.
I have heard of it being done (replacing the u-joints) but, it seem to me there is some welding involved and sounds like a PITA.

I went to Napa Auto Parts and found U-Joints for my 88.
There will be some work to replace them, but nothing a good press and some minor "custom" work won't fix.
My dad has been a mechanic for 30+ years and said some of the old muscle cars used to do the same thing with their driveshafts, but he always replaced them in a similar fashion as to what we are going to do with my driveshaft. My front U-joint is starting to squeek a little.
He claims that we can replace both U-joints in about 20 minutes. The hard part is getting the shaft out and putting it back in.

I am certain the replacement of the u-joints is an economical way to repair your drive shaft. My front u-joint went bad and I chose to install a new Mazdatrix aftermarket drive shaft. I am amazed at how much smoother the car is now. This new shaft is apparently perfectly balanced and constructed to much higher tolerances than the factory original. I do not regret my decision to spend the extra bucks at all.

Mark me down as another satisfied MAZDATRIZ driveshaft customer. Bought three from them. All great. That said BLACKRX7 has a deal that can't be beat. Life does not get much better than that!

you have to replace the whole drive shaft or spend hours machineing the ends to get the old ones out.
I have a mazdatrix driveshaft used about 6 months. make me an offer if you want it. like you said 250 new..... but I dont expect that, just shiping and a little bit.
