Ugh, stereo question

Is there a 12v+ source under the dash somewhere that is constant and not controlled by the car's ignition? I installed my radio and I have to keep resetting the presets every time I start the car. Also, there were two antenna jacks behind the stocker, one male, one female. Is there a reason for these two jacks?

Merci beacoup!

At the top of this forum there is a 2nd Gen FAQ thread. In that thread you'll find link to FSM's in PDF. In those FSM's you'll find electrical diagrams that will answer any question you have such as this one. Before you do anything more, I strongly suggest you take time to review the entire FAQ as this legacy of IceMarks is one of the greatest values of this forum.

To short cut you to the answer to your question, here is a link to the FSM page the FAQ would have taken you to:

http://www.teamfc3s.org/main/factory...cal_System.pdf

About 7/8ths down you'll find the diagrams for factory sterio's. The constant power you're looking for is in the factory sterio electrical conector. I'd give you the color code, but that would be a disservice to you.

As Ice Mark would say, Drive Well.

The female is for the windshield antenna.

If your radio is losing memory when connected to the 12v constant at the radio harness, then you have issues other than finding a new constant voltage source.

Light blue/red stripe should be your 12+volt constant power.

The two antenna leads allow you to get lousy FM reception on the factory radio using both antennas. :s

There is a constant 12v as well as an ignition controlled 12v, if you have found the 12v ignition then there should be an extra wire in there you havent used. Cant recall the color, blue with some stripe i believe, get your self a test light and with the car off touch it to the end of the wires till it lights up, theres only one down there with power with key off, there is plenty of stuff under the driver side dash against the firewall to ground the other end of the test light. Scoche<i dont know if i spelled that right sells one that plugs into your cigarette lighter assuming that works in your car.
