U-Joint longevity on 2nd gen.

Anyone have a rough idea how long u-joints on 2nd gen RX7s last?

well mine went out in my 89 gtu at 150k, thats to say it broke into 2 pieces and snaped my shifter housing off my tranny

generally 160-180k depending if the car was ragged out or not they do not have non replacable u joints either so you can get another stock driveshaft for about 400 at mazda or an aftermarket with replaceable u joints for about the same price

thanks guys....my car has 260K miles so I think it's time to do a little preventive U-joint maintenance!

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do to maintain the stock U-joints. There are no grease fittings, and they are non-replacable. Best bet is to get an aftermarket shaft with a good set of joins...

My '90 GTU bought new and treated tenderly went about 263,000 when it had to be replaced. Not sure if that is standard life tho.
