Turning Up the Boost ?'s
#26
first thing I would advise you to get would be a wideband. Without it, you wont know if you are running lean from upping the boost.
A wideband should basically be the first thing people should get before putting more boost.
You can get a cheap manual boost controller. I bought a perrin manual controller for $10 used lol. It does its purpose. Boost to 12 psi just by turning the body in for more boost, out for less.
The best manual boost controllers are the ball and spring. Just dont even bother with bleed types, ball and spring is more reliable to attain correct boost. The only downside I can see for teh ball and spring is that the spring can get weak. Weak spring will let the pressure bypass and therefore low boost. Though it will be a long time before the spring actually gets weak.

Unless you have your exhaust routed into the cabin so you can smell it during full throttle pulls, smell is not the way to go. It most likely is rich, but to re-iterate what everyone else is saying: get a wideband so you know for sure. I'd be very wary of getting on it hard, especially in anything above 2nd gear without a wideband to look at. I would wager you are coming very close to running out of injector on the stock system. Again, like many have suggested, Wideband, Rtek 2.1, and probably at least 720cc secondaries. Also, I've raced on a manual boost controller for 3 years, they work fine if you are on a budget.
