turn signals, door handles, shift linkage (please help)

ok, so I was just given an '87 NA RX7 (base model)

first, I need a driver's side exterior door handle (preferably in GREY). I'll check the clasifieds and e-bay too, just thought I'd ask.

second: it shifts (5spd) REALLY rough, there's a ring on top of the transmission body (where the shifter connects to it, not sure the name of it)... anyway, I just ordered the bushing set that includes that ring and some other bushings, hopefully this'll fix it. it's getting overnighted to a local mazda dealer ($10 shipped). Think this'll fix the problem or is there something else I should look for?

third: the turn signals aren't working. when I flip the switch for one side or the other, it will click like it's supposed to, but the lights don't go on. I'm going to check the bulbs tomorow, but I'd think that at least ONE of them would be good still. Also, when I use the hazzards, nothing happens. Anything I should look for specificaly (wiring, relays, etc.?).

Thanks, I'm sure I'll have other questions too

Check the all the fuses in the fuse box for the lights, as for the exterior door handle, I have one, not sure how the hell to get it off though!

is the handle you have an EXTRA one? it's not THAT hard to take off (the helms manual should help you), it was easier when I took the window out, but it's pretty much 2 bolts and you have to disconnect some rods.... what color is it?

as for the turn signals if it is not a fuse, the CPU may need re-soldering

ok, I'll check the fuses and everything today...

anyway, as for the shift linkage.... I can pull the shifter right out and have to actualy push down pretty hard to get it to shift... I just called Mazda back today and they said that a lower bushing set wouldn't help that or something... has anyone had this problem? cuz pretty much, I can almost lift the shifter right out of the transmission casing, and it (obviously) shifts really rough

Sounds like you need both upper and lower bushing sets.

The upper and lower bushings will fix the problem with the shifter coming out of the tranny. There is one that goes on top of the big ball on the shifter, and one that fits the bottom of the ball too. Make sure to get both of those. As for the door handle, I needed one for my first RX-7, and I just went to the local salvage yard. To my knowledge it was like $15 or $20.

yeah, I guess the upper bushing set will be here Friday.... the mazda dealer said that the set I ordered should be all I need and that "the bushings won't help hold the shifter in place".... where can I get the lower bushings? according to mazdatrix.com I think it is, they have them but I was wondering if anyone else had them or if there IS a real mazda part number for them...

I'm heading to the "salvage" (aka: junk) yard tomorow to look for a door handle and possibly a driver's seat,

I got the turn signals to work.... some dumbass put the fuse for the hazzards in the spot one over (for "room"... no clue what "room" is) and didn't have anything in the hazzard spot... luckly I had a few extra fuses lying around
