Turbo's quick?
I have been reading your kill stories and ust out of curiousity..how quick is a turbo II RX-7? I had a 89 GXL but have always been curious as to how the turbos performed. My current car is quite abit faster than my Rx-7. I have never had a chance to line up with a turbo II. I don't really stand a chance in a straight line with a 3rd gen either.

Mine will do about 160 and I've beaten new Mustang GT's, 93-97 Z-28's, lots of Preludes and Eclipse Gt's,
I've lost to a heavily modded 5.0 and a Carrera 4 Cabriolet (2 car lengths)
Closest runs I've had were with another TII and an FD (separately) - edged the TII in 4th and even with the FD in 3rd and 4th (we had to quit for an intersection)
These are all with a cat still on my car - run a straight exhaust on these cars and augment your fuel and they fly...
You could run a stock TII if there is such a thing, but if it's not stock - you'll get smoked.

Yeah...
My kills so far (yes we have a racing spot so I find lots of fun stuff):
-Stock FD w/ catback... raced 3x and won 2x.
-BPU ++ Supra w/ stock clutch, bald tires, and only running 1 bar, and weighted down =P
-Modded Civic HB hybrid, w/ GS-R swap
-302 stang w/ GT-40 upper/lower TB, mild cam, exhaust, intake, and GT-40 heads... edged him by a car 60-130.
-New GT mustang, by a few cars.
-93+ Z28
-Modded GST
My loses so far:
-91 modded TSI AWD... I launched horribly, but I pulled him up top... lost the QM tho.
-97 GST Spyder with a full mod list/upgraded turbo etc... by 1 car =)
-'02 WRX very light mods.. not sure what(when I was stock, we will go again sometime)
-Modded C5 by 2 cars
These are off the top of my head... If you don't believe 'em it's cool, just come down to Columbus and watch =).

I had an 89 TII, and I could kick a mustangs *** with it. I've gone all of 160 in that car. They are pretty quick, and I don't think that my FD is that much faster. Of course my FD doesn't have near as many mods as my FC did.

MystiCali,
if you're looking for a stock TII, come down to Cupertino, De Anza College and look for a white 89. well, it doesn't have to be in school, coz i live just 2 blocks away. so you might see me around.
BTW, besides a red TII in my area, i'm the only TII (NOTE: TII, not n/a) around.
eyes up.
and, try to have a nice day.
i pay respect for all that have sacrificed and are helping out in NY

2.5L V6 200hp 165lbs TQ 3,050lbs (Curb Weight)
Heads have been ExtrudeHoned for better breathing...giving the SVT 30hp more than the standard Contour.
Its best trait is handling pulling .90g on the skidpad (I have since upgraded the suspension even further).
It is a high revving engine, hitting its peak hp at 5500rpms.
Top Speed is 143mph but some have reached 156mph with intake...not governed.
0-60 is around 6.9-7.2 stock
1/4 mile time is 14.9-15.1 stock (14.7 is fastest recorded stock time)
only 11, 457 made in 3 years.

I like your contour i think it looks sweet is it a stick or auto?My friend had just a stock contour with the six in it and it had ***** i was impressed. The only thing that sucks is getting to the exhaust manifolds(use to be a ford and chrysler tech). There is only limited space in those engine compartments. But you have a very nice ride the ground effects make the car look a whole lot better.

My friends bro has an SVT Contour and I raced him when he was stock in my 91 TII and made him look like he was standing still, however he has straight pipes, intake, and a 75 shot of NOS. It should be a better race now! He took it to the track the other day and blew out his tranny so it is out of commission for a while

Brian...I understand the whole skidpad thing but its hard to explain how well a car handles in real world driving with #'s. That was just something to look at. I have to say that stock for stock my Rx-7 handled better but with my suspension mods that I have now my SVT would kill my RX-7 in handling. THe car can handle all speeds with ease. The faster you go around a corner the more it behaves like a rear wheel car.
Scottymizt...SVT comes with manual tranny only and the ground effects come from the factory like that. You are right about the ngine compartment...that puppy is crammed in there pretty tightly.
There isn't much Hp to gain from this engine however because it is already agressively tuned. Opening up the exhaust can maybe net 20-25 hp at the wheels but that is not a lot compared to how much it costs to do all that. There are a couple options though.
1. Up the displacement to a 3.0L using a ported and matched block from a 99+ Taurus gaining 65-75 hp at the wheels and 70lbs or tq.
2. SuperCharge: Costing close to $5k but nets 290 hp to the wheels and 220lbs of tq.
3. Turbocharge: Still in development but will push #'s to at least 300hp at the wheels and 250lb of tq costing close to $5k

The TIIs are pretty farkin' quick. I used to drive an 88 GXL and bought a TII after I caught the "turbo bug". I've gone up to 130 MPH so far before I ran out of nerve and the car handles great...I'm still working on getting my abilities to that of the car's.

Theres a guy here in Ft Worth that is running a 88 T2 and he runs 90-9.1 in the 1/8th and has time slips for mid to low 14's out at Ennis on the 1/4. All he has is dual N1's and claims stock rebuilt drive train front to back. He doesnt have a computer so you'll have to take my word on that and If I had a scanner I could show you a NA time slip for 15.0 (before I had to change the rear end).
It all depends on how fast do you want to spend
