-rebuilt TII turbo/manifold/spacer
-front mounted TII intercooler
-bigger fuel pump (either the FD pump, an aftermarket unit, or whatever I can find)
-cleaned TII injectors
-S-AFC, boost guage
-Some BOV
-Downpipe
-Turbo inlet duct
-all oil and water piping
-oil/coolant change
You must leave the car with me for at least 4 months, payment in full before I even consider starting, no warranties of ANY kind.
And the price? $5000 US.

buddy, it took me like 2 months to do a tranny job. Obiously aaron didn't do JUST The turbo install. And obivoulsy i didn't work on it 24/7. Plus it's the excitment of DOING SOMETHERE YOURSELF, i'm sure quite a few members know that the feeling is like. Whats the fun in paying someone else to do it for you!
option 1 " I need a turbo, i know i'll just go buy a turbo car" feels good to have a nice car....
OPtion 2: Take on the task of DOING SOMETHING YOUR SELF! feels awesome to hear it start up, something you did with your own two hands

you will respect your car and understand it more if you YOU do the work. So if somthing goes wrong you will most likely say oh its because bla bla bla because you have a understanding of whats going on, if you let a mechanic work on it all the time, if somthing goes wrong you say "oh i dunno the mechanic fixed it somehow i dunno what he did"

for $5000 US, i can buy a decently modified TII. you are either insane regarding your asking price, or you think people are just plain stupid. also, 4 months downtime? very interesting. someone who is competent with all parts necessary being onhand can install an "NA" turbo kit in less than 2 days.
Umm I don't think he was serious. It's his way of saying "don't ask me to convert your car" Sheesh.
Oh and rock on Aaron. Those vids were sweet.

Yeah, that's the basic idea. Anyone who will pay that much for me to do it has no business driving the car. They'll pop their engine within a few days...
Oh, and my car saw 10 PSI Friday night...

Man, some people can't take a joke!!
Ya ya, you saw x psi....
So, what's your overall impression on how the engine feels, and what the boost speed feels like, powerband, when it comes one, etc!! I'm really interested!
What do you think your power/ET's are like??

I'll get back to you on things like that after I come home from Toronto tomorrow night...
But basically, power is from 2800RPM up to redline. Boost comes on at about 2500RPM, hitting 5 PSI by 3000 RPM, then up from there. Down low is rather useless, though it always has been.
I can't make any claims on power or ETs yet, since I went from a very slow '79 beater to this car, so the difference is like night and day. I can't even make a guess....Planning to head to Sparta to do the 1/4 mile after I get back from Winnipeg.
And people, it was a JOKE.

I'm very surprised by your boost curve. I would have expected (due to the higher compression) that boost would come on sooner than on my buddy's 87 TII (my 89 has a stock boost controller). He makes about 5 PSI by 2300 RPM or so. Did you put any sort of pill in the WG line?
Oh, and if you haven't already, I'd retard your timing by 5 degrees or so via the CAS - remember that your N/A ECU doesn't compensate for boost in that regard. (oh, and if you already have, just call me dumb. )

My downpipe is pretty restrictive, so that probably accounts for the later boosting...Also, the rich running has probably done a pretty good job of killing my cat.
Timing is still stock, but I do plan to adjust it when I get time to play with/tune the car.

I would be verrry careful. You're seeing 10 PSI with a stock cat, and with no timing retard? That sort of thing causes a LOT of heat retention in the turbo and exhaust ports. Are you using an S4 or S5 turbo? Have you ported your wastegate?
Forgive me if you're already way ahead of me, but a high compression N/A motor with boost (esp. 10 PSI) must be very delicately tuned. At least you've got fuel

damn i cant stand those canadian accents. maybe thats cause everyone down here in KENTUCKY Y'ALL has a southern accent. car seems to be ok, yeah what a relief it is to have your car run after doing a huge project like that. we replaced my turbo which was a moderately big job for us and we were SO relieved when it started up. nice job aaron cake. does it rain like every day in canada? i went there once and some old homeless lady tried to bitch me out cause i wouldn't give her any money. haven't been back since

Some jackass posted that about a month after I started posting my turbo-install pics. I guess he was trying to insult me or something, but all he really did was prove how much of a dumbass he was.
And since very few people have actually done this, I figured I would make a big deal about the fact that it started first try and I didn't even have to do any troubleshooting...

Damm grind those damm welds back a bit!
I dare say your no longer using that piece though with your new engine/turbo though, right Aaron?
Just so you guys know, i've said it before, if you can get your hands on a custom manifold made for fitting a turbo engine in a pre FC type Mazda they really help with the whole Turbo N/A thing.
Much nicer than having spacers and what not IMHO.
I dunno how common that sort of stuff is over there in the states but I picked up a 2nd hand one for $50 here.
Much easier to make a nice dump pipe for it aswell because it sits further forward, so you don't have to do silly tight turns.
