Turbo2 lsd questions

Hi all,

I am running the 87 turbo 2 diff out back, drives great.

I recently did a fluid flush and filled with royal purple. On the drain plug magnet was something nobody likes to find!!!

There was a chunk of steel, about 1/2" long x 1/8". I do not hear anything out back, car seems like sits running fine.

I just built my T-56 transmission and do not want to risk destroying it. Am I safe running the diff like this?

Has anyone else encountered any similar issues?

Thanks!

I've never heard of anyone killing a transmission when a differential fails...

I would start looking for another LSD and take it easy. It shouldn't be a problem, but your diff is now weaker than it was.... and that apparently wasn't strong enough

If you can post a photo of the chunk, we may be able to help you figure out what broke. Also, when you found the chunk on the magnet, did you probe around inside the diff housing for other fragments - maybe too big to get to the plug or for the magnet to hold?

I agree you need to drive easy until you know more about what broke - especially if you don't know for sure there are not other chunks still inside to muck up the works. Good luck!
